Boat is no longer for sale - will keep it. I'll take it up the Hudson and Champlain Canal this summer to Lake Champlain!

Re: For Sale: 1984 Cape Dory 25D in CT
Old head, Groco HE, needed a rebuild - but I found a good deal on a new and current-version HF, so I just ordered one of those - will go in the boat this spring.
So - brand new Groco HF Head to be installed this spring.

Ah, Guest Dynaplate... you learn something new every day...
Thanks. I'll figure out what to order over football and Turkey!
I really do appreciate this message board and the help it offers - it was part of the reason I decided to bite the bullet and buy a CD!

Hull Zinc question - what's that thing on the inside??
I pulled the hull zinc (CD 25D) this past weekend for replacement. On the inside of the bilge, there's what looks like a plastic-covered something - gray plastic, through which the hull zinc bolts stick into the hull... what is that??? Does it also need replacement? Any good lines on the right size ...

Re: Damper Disc issues - Symptoms?
OK - I checked my damper disc - everything looks good. No looseness in the spline part, springs look OK - not broken, not loose in housings. Should get my trans back in the next week+ and will reinstall!

Damper Disc issues - Symptoms?
I just sent my KM2A trans off to Rick at East Coast Marine Transmissions in NJ for a rebuild... I didn't pull the damper disc - started to, but had trouble with the disc spinning which made it hard/impossible to get the bolts loose... as he hadn't said to send him the damper disc, too, I gave up. (t...

I need to send my KM2A transmission out for rebuild... wondering if i can buy one that has already been rebuilt and do a swap instead of being without a transmission for a while... leads? Other ideas?

Kanzaki KM2A Trans Oil - SAE 20 or 30 - sources/brands?
I have a Yanmar 1GM with a Kanzaki KM2A trans that says it needs SAE 20/30 HD oil. I reached out to Yanmar through their website to ask about current oils for the trans, and they wrote back: "The KM2A gear will use an SAE20 or and SAE30 HD (Heavy Duty) engine oil. Back when this was written, th...

Bottom Paint recommendation (bronze colored?)
Dreaming of Spring...
When sailing around Marblehead last summer, I noted a beautiful bronze-colored bottom paint on many of the sailboats. I'm having trouble finding this online - any leads?
I currently have Bottomkote NT on the boat, so it will need to adhere to that.
Thanks.
