Despite the caveats that's a nice job, John! I look forward to seeing the final result!
Can you explain the "blue board" a little more?
Thanks!

Re: North Carolina Liveaboard Marina's, need guidance, help.
I am looking for a liveaboard Marina, in North Carolina. I have a 28' Dory. I have a small dog. I am a single man that will be living on the boat with the dog. I need a good boatyard with a lift so I can do maintenance and repairs. (Painting, epoxy, gel coat repair) I need a Marina close to a town ...

Re: Sail Repair Tape or Patches
I have used Bainbridge Sail RIPair tape in the past with good results. However, pretty much any self-adhesive Dacron tape is likely to eventually peel up unless you stitch around the edges. Also, if you have multiple rips, it is likely the sail is rotten (UV damaged) and needs to be replaced. Try gr...

Re: Best Mast Carrying/Storage for Trailered CD-22 and TY Se
I have a CD22 and a Triad trailer with the forward mast support. I use the stern pulpit to support the mast aft. I've never worried about the weight--the stern pulpit seems plenty strong for the job. I use a piece of pool noodle sliced longitudinally and put over the stern pulpit for padding. The mi...

Re: UV Protection for Genoa
NOT sail material. The whole point is that it be UV resistant. If sail material was UV resistant you wouldn't need the protective strip. All the roller furling genoas I've had have used Sunbrella protective strips. I haven't had this done in quite a while, so it's difficult to guess what it will cos...

Re: Mast heel and step
Jim, what do you think caused the deformation of the hole in the mast? My 22 has exact same setup, but the hole isn’t deformed. Did a PO pivot the mast down vs using a crane? I could imagine using gin pole method and lowering mast in this way would place a lot of stress on that hole. From what I kn...

Re: Selling 1982 Cape Dory 25D - Meander with Triad Trailer
Congratulations! Would you mind editing the title of the first post of the thread, putting the word SOLD in the title to make it easier for people to see that she's been sold without reading the whole thread? Only the original poster can do this. Thanks!

Re: Mast heel and step
Took a few more today. Honestly, Steve, that doesn't look too bad. The middle photo shows that the area just forward of the bolts has splayed out a bit. Once you unstep the mast and remove the base you may be able just to straighten it out with a set of vice grips padded with a rag or something sof...

Re: Mast heel and step
looking at the pics in the last post by Jim....I do not see enough gap between the base of the mast and seat to get any significant rotation of the mast when lowering it...maybe 30deg from vertical before the aft edge of mast bottoms out on the seat and if that occurs, one can develop a significant...

Re: Winter cover frame
Wow, Cathy, that frame is a work of art! You could display it when it is not on the boat and charge admission! It reminds me of something like this: https://www.chinametalsculpture.com/photo/pl29952525-large_modern_public_art_stainless_steel_wire_sculpture_for_park.jpg Seriously, nice job. Smooth sa...

Re: Mast heel and step
Hey Steve, When you haul the boat this fall and take the mast down you will be able to take the base off the mast and better see what is going on. Here's what the base of the mast on my 1981 CD22 looked like two years ago when I removed it to re-do the wiring in the mast: IMG_8491.JPG As you can see...

Me too on having Geico-Boat/US on my Typhoon. Me too on the boat being under 40 when the insurance policy was written but subsequently renewed after she turned 40. Based on your experience, I guess I won't be shopping for new insurance! My CD22 has no insurance, but I don't feel the need for it sinc...

Re: Arietta - Engineless to Northeast Harbor
Hi Jim, Great pics, and it certainly sounds like a great cruise! I have to ask where you saw the puffins? The puffin colonies that I'm aware of are Eastern Egg Rock, Matinicus Rock, Machias Seal Island, and Petit Manan. Your cruise itinerary didn't take you near any of those. Is it possible we now ...

Re: Cockpit Coaming Rebuild
Some sections of wood peeled from the plank held to the fiberglass by the 3M 4000. I'll post some more pics when I have cleaned it up. I'm not really concerned if I decide to make new ones--not difficult or particularly expensive. Two 10' long by 10" wide by 1" think unmilled A. Mahogany ...
