Re: This board is back !!!

Thanks for your work! The website revival seems similar to boat ownership, just when you think you're done another project pops up ! 😁

Re: Experiences sailing Typhoon vs. 22/Ty Senior

Hi, I have owned both. It's quite a different experience on the senior compared to the Typhoon. The smaller boat is a very nice daysailer and I had a lot of fun with it. The senior a much different experience, stability comfort and the ability to overnight which we do most weekends all summer. With ...

Re: Adding hinged mast base to Ty Sr..?

2 inch aluminum tubing 105 in long. Can use any type of end caps. At top end connect any way you want but need double shackle setup for hoist/ halyard connection. Hook one end to trailer winch and other to jib or main halyard facing fwd. Stand up frame and cleat off halyard and snug up winch line. C...

Re: Ty Sr specs vs CD22 etc.

A good source is sailboatdata.com I prefer the Typhoon Senior with less clutter down below .I prefer outboard to diesel and prefer fractional rig. Same hull. Both are very well built . I have a 125% Genoa and that's good for my conditions. I would install new furler then measure or call up local sai...

Re: Adding hinged mast base to Ty Sr..?

Hello I have a hinged mast step/Tabernacle setup. . Found a picture of very similar one. We used a custom aluminum Aframe which came with boat. We step on the hard before launch. I have 2 sons to help lift up to deck and it just needs to rest on stern rail. I was surprised how much heavier it was th...

Re: electric outboard for TySenior

I'm all for electric but don't think I would be comfortable with a small electric outboard. . 6 horse gas for me and that's the smallest I would want. I wouldn't spend any money on that old one. Might have to bite the bullet. I have a Yamaha 6 and at times I needed all of its power to get out of it ...

Re: WTB: Cape Dory Typhoon Sr or Cape Dory 22

Hello. Just looked at Craig's list boat . That possibly could be a good deal depending on listed issues.I had a hard time finding mine and was lucky to locate it within a hour and a half away. Love this boat! If you are able I would definitely check it out and also go for the trailer. I have one and...

Hope you are able to find a nice one. Don't think I would like to take on it either. Not a bad boat at all for the right person. Good luck. Brian

Re: Want to Buy

Looks like a upgrade project . These are hard to find and are usually overpriced if in very good condition. Looks like a road trip for you! I have been on the fence for several years but ultimately the ability to trailer and step the mast with 2 people, no diesel and single-handed ability keeps me f...
