Re: Death, Taxes, and Cape Dory Crazing
Hi John, sgbernd, and gonesail, I can't thank you guys enough for your experienced perspective and advice on this. Heart skipped a beat when the wrap came-off, but I knew gelcoat crazing was generally ok if not through to the substrait - but still felt nervous. Since the boat was surveyed less than ...

Re: Death, Taxes, and Cape Dory Crazing
Sorry, yes all gelcoat crazing I think. Though 3 small areas toward the stern are perhaps a little bad and could use a repair I maybe, sort of look wider than most other areas. But, the majority may be cosmetic, just did not know if things could get worse overtime eventually impacting the fiberglass...

Death, Taxes, and Cape Dory Crazing
Hi everyone, I come hat in hand once again with a CD care question. When we purchased our CD 30 MKII last year she had typical crazing for her age and the survey moister meter showed two small spots with elevated levels. Having owed a 25D for over 10 years I felt comfortable with the boat's conditio...

Re: Interior Teak Care
Hi Paul, Jeff, and robwm - Thank for all the great advice, really good to have direction on this. I believe our teak is oiled, it is the same finish as our previous boat, a Cape Dory 25D. Yes, I believe it is oiled. Love the gentle cleaning then lemon oil idea, I think I will go with this method. I ...

Interior Teak Care
Hi everyone, I tried to post this ealier today but think I failed to hit the post button, my apologies if it somehow shows-up twice. My wife and I purchased our new-to-us Cape Dory 30 MKII last July and we live-a-board here in Boston. At closing her interior teak looked amazing. After our first wint...

Re: VHF Help:)?
Thanks so much eveyone - really great insights. My guess is, based on your advice, that either I attached the new connector at the VHF poorly - or the radio is fried, as I had tried to get radio checks on multiple occasions - or both. I have an emergency attenna stored onboard so perhaps I will use ...

VHF Help:)?
Hi everyone, Any VHF experts out there? I wondered if I could ask the community for help getting mine working again. Here's the story. A couple seasons ago I lost my antenna while the mast was being stored for the winter season and replaced with a new Shakespeare version that seemed to be an exact v...

Re: CD 30 MII Thoughts?
Thanks so much for the insights! That's how I feel about my 25D, a small boat that thinks she's a big boat! I sail out of Boston and though 90% of my sailing will be coastal I am holding out to use the boat for longer trips, like to Bermuda and beyond. Do you have any thoughts on her sea going abili...

CD 30 MII Thoughts?
Hi everyone, My wife and I are in the market for our next Cape Dory. We are looking to move-up from a 25D to a 28 or perhaps a 30. I came accoss a CD 30 MKII for sale near me. Beautiful Boat! Is anyone familiar with this model? It is not an Alberg design, the bow has less of an overhang, and the ste...
