Re: WTB Cape Dory 10 SE Massachusetts / Rhode Island Area
I have a friend who started to restore one but realized he wanted a different boat. If you want a project I can give him your number.

Re: CD28 stuffing box
It probably just needs to be tightened.
You could buy an aluminum access hatch made my bomar and mount it on your cockpit sole. It will give you access to everything behind your engine, plus give you some added storage space.

Re: handling the over-canvassed boat
I know the feeling when you think you are going to be all good and then the wind pipes up. I am having a Stack Pack built for my boat over the winter to make reefing a snap. No need to worry about reef points and you can just throw your reefing lines inside the thing. Do you have a traveler ? My fir...

I wrote that article
Since writing that piece, I have sold my CD27 and have bought a 1965 Columbia 31 that also scoots along, and has more room down below, but there’s a lot I miss about my old CD27.. mostly the simplicity of how easy she sailed

Re: Heaving to
Bill, i sure would like to be able to heave to on jib alone on my 27 ... but so far have not been able to ... do you remember particulars ? How much jib, how hard to leeward with the helm? Did you just let the main flog ? thanks Fred One of my mild complaints with my old cd27 was the fact that the ...

Thanks !
I’m glad you enjoyed the article. I’ll never get over my love for that boat.
The new boat is pretty sweet too but not as easy to handle as the CD27.
(New boat is a 1965 Columbia 31)

Replace the whole turnbuckle. It’s safer that way.

Re: In search of a Cape Dory 27 roller furler system
I installed an ALado on my CD27 before I sold it and absolutely loved it. When I bought my Columbia 31 last fall, the first thing I did was install the same one on her. They are so simple to install and theres no moving parts to spit ball bearings or jam.

Re: is this mooring pendant serviceable?
In the time you have taken to make this thread and comment on it, you could have spliced up a couple nice three strand pennants. One to replace this one and another to use as a backup in a few years.

Bottom Paint question
This past fall I purchased a Columbia 31 that had been sitting on the hard for 5 years. The bottom was painted 5 years ago and it sat out of the water for 5 years. its a non ablative antifouling of unknown brand.. So the question is... should I sand this stuff down or just across the fingers and hop...

Re: CD 28 Roller Furl
I can't say enough good things about the Alado furler I put on my CD27. IT was incredibly easy to instal and I can't see how it could ever fail. Best of all its the lowest priced furler that I could find.
