Re: Painting the Mast
Thanks John I ‘m afraid to remove all the hardware in my mast. I wonder if there are backing plates inside that will make it a nightmare to reattach. It’ll be in December. I’ve been told to remove and replace all the old fasteners. Do I just clean the old holes and set everything back the same with ...

Re: STOP THE SQUEAK
Wow. I just assumed all boats rattle and squeak. If Orion and Far Reach can be so quiet that evan a little squeaky trim is noticed then I have so much more work to do. Leoma is so rattley and noisy especially around the engine housing. Oh well. I have plenty to work on for the rest of my retirement....

Re: Leoma. Icebox conversion
Timed it again. 10.5 min per hr x4 amps. X 24 hr = 16.8. I must have made a mistake last night. But this is very good. I cant believe what a difference the insulation made. Im going to Ensenada December 10. I think I will go down to Newport harbor next week to visit my sister 90 miles. They have a r...

Re: Leoma. V- berth

Re: Leoma. Icebox conversion
New figures in middle of night. Compressor runs 8 min per hr / 60 x 4 amps x 24 hr = 12.8. Is that correct?? Seems pretty good. Ill check it again in the heat if the day.

Leoma. V- berth
I dissassembled the V-berth to inspect the bulkheads today. There is plenty if moisture down at the bottom but I think it is OK. I tried to move it with a flat bar and it is secure. I hope it gets enough circulation to dry and does not deteriorate any more till I reseal the deck seam in December IMG...

Re: Leoma. Icebox conversion
OK. Maybe this is correct. Mine runs 13 min per hr or .216hr x 4.5 amps=.975 x 24hr =23.4Ahr day. If that’s good enough for Far Reach it’s good enough for me. But there are several easy improvements I will make in time OK. Now the compressor runs 3.5minutes and off for 16.5 min@ 4 amps. I think. Th...

OK. Now the compressor runs 3.3 minutes and off for 16.5 min@ 4 amps.
I think. This 10.5/60 x 4 amps x24 hr. = 16.8 per day. Thats way better

Re: Leoma. Icebox conversion
Happy Independence Day!! I Insulated the ice box with 2” foam R-10. I ended up sheeting it with the polymer plastic stuff. I didn’t like that stuff cuz it stains and looks very dirty. I did insulate the top but not the butterfly hatch. It’s 2” thick with nice bevel fit. Maybe it’s good. I can’t wait...

Re: Leoma. Icebox conversion
Turns out in warm waters I really need to insulate the icebox Since I had both setees disassembled to reinforce the bulkheads on both stbd and port. I bored 2” holes behind the backrest. I also drilled ff 3/4” holes in the lockers on the countertop to try to access the outboard side of the ice box. ...

Re: Projects Lead To More Projects
Wow. You’re really into g-10. I’m gonna modify my stainless bases like these IMG_1469.png . I am gonna keep my deck mounted sidelights but mount them up on the pulpit somehow. I hope I can make it look nice. I dont like the plastic stuff they sell and unless I come across some classical vintage styl...

Re: Projects Lead To More Projects
I stopped glassing the hull/deck seam about a foot aft of the chainplates. [img]https://www.cruisersforum.com/attachments/gallery/4/5/5/9/0/100_4085_v1.jpg[/i It might be affordable to have flat stainless plates welded on to the stanchions. If you pre-drill some holes in the plates, you could then ...

Re: Projects Lead To More Projects
Hi Jonathan I was just going to ask you about the deck seam. You are the third CD I know that has had the same problem as me. Did you go all the way back. It looks like you left the toe and rub rails off the aft. I’m trying to schedule yard time at Baja Naval in Ensenada to work on mine. I’m not su...

Re: Storm sails
Hi John Thanks for responding. Yea. I didn’t it hoist it up tight. I just wanted to show the size. Ive been thinking about putting a reef in that one. I have another jib from my previous boat. Never used. It’s cut high. I think you call that yankee. But again I have to get out the jib sheets. No I d...
