Re: Leoma hull to deck joint
Finished at boatyard!!! Yay!! Im dissapointed in them but I guess It won’t help to complain. I installed the temporary boards as bulwarks. It’s really lacking without the wood toerail and rub rails. I think If I do a good job with the finished bulwarks this summer it will look much better. Main thin...

Re: Leoma hull to deck joint
IMG_2120.jpeg IMG_2119.jpeg Painting finished. Just need to wet sand a little ridge at the tape line. I’m really glad I had them finish the bow triangle and the stern deck. They weren’t going to do that. Stanchion bases are ready just need to work on the pulpits a little. Ill install the bowsprit t...

Re: Leoma hull to deck joint
Thanks for the response. JS. Yes. I’m at Baja Naval boatyard and marina. Ensenada Mx. It’s about 65 mi from San Diego. This boatyard is letting me stay on the boat. I try to stay out of their way during the day. I can keep an eye on them. I wont be putting a toe or rub rail. And don’t have enough mo...

Re: Leoma hull to deck joint
A couple guys spent the week with fairing compound and sandpaper then yesterday put two coats of high build primer. I think they will finish painting this week. I may have to cut back on some metal work. I need to see my bill after paint. We will see

Re: Leoma hull to deck joint
IMG_2030.jpeg Applying several coats of fairing compound. I really wish they’d unstep the mast and finished it consistent all around. Cutting around the chainplates is almost like they will be recessed a little. Oh Well. I’m not gonna tell anyone. I looked up the cost to R & R the two masts it ...

Re: Leoma hull to deck joint
I can’t complain. They are doing good. A 2” strip and a 4” strip. I talked to the boss and he says all I had holding it togeather was a few 50 yr old screws and the old mastic. It should last the rest of my life. IMG_1993.jpeg IMG_1992.jpeg I really glad I removed the bowsprit. This will be much bet...

Re: Leoma hull to deck joint
IMG_1989.png They are fairing it out pretty good. I’m glad to see the plugged all the holes. They aren’t using the biaxial material I provided. They say it requires too much grinding and will cost so much more. I give up. I know they do nice work. I guess I was expecting too much. I think they will...

Re: Leoma hull to deck joint
IMG_1984.jpeg I kinda dissapointed. Maybe they are making up for the good deal they gave me last year. Their quote is double what I expected. I’m too embarrassed to say how much. They are only grinding looks less than 2” and are not glassing under the chainplates. W understood they would glass 3-4 ...

Re: Leoma. Salon Sole
I saw the yard guys working on teak and holly flooring. Decided to post photo of theirs next to mine. Theirs is so nice totally precision. But they got about 5x the labor in it. I happy with mine. I want it to get worn in and distressed so kt looks original. I’m sure it’s durable enough. Mine is the...

Re: Leoma hull to deck joint
I was a little dissapointed cus it’s taking two weeks putting up the tent. They had the structure up them took it down and started over. They must have psychic abilities. The manager just came up and told me I wasn’t being charged for the tent. Nice. I decided I hate butyl tape. They removed all the...

Leoma. Removal of bowsprit
I see why the yard wanted to avoid this. It was really difficult. But I got it. Took about 4-5 hrs. I think I put two tubes of 4200 under it about 7 yrs ago and the 1/2” bolts were so tight they wouldn’t budge I got a hole saw bit larger than the bolt heads and bored around them so I’ll have to plug...
