Filling Drilled Holes (replacement hinges on lazarette)
I received the replacement hinges from my previous post concerning stainless hinges for the lazarrete covers on a CD25. The holes on the new hinges don't quite line up with the old ones. I could just widen the existing holes, but I'd prefer to do the installation "correctly". I'm wondering...

Re: CD 300ms motors sailor-looking for information
There is one in Kingston NY for sale - http://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/52704. Looked solid and well maintained when I saw her out last year. Currently on the hard at Rondout Yacht Basin.

Re: Whisker Pole Use
I believe he might be referring to a pole set up similar to the below. Looking it up, it is referred to as a spike (vs. latch) end. I caught sight of the same in my boat but I haven't investigated it yet. Also, here is a discussion about spike (vs. latch) whisker pole use - http://forums.sailboatown...

Thanks for the offer Jim; I appreciate it! It looks like one of the two sources Rich posted will work out. Thanks to both of you.

Replacement hinges for locker covers - 1978 CD25
Happy New Year! I'm in search of replacements for the 3" length x 2 1/4" open marine grade stainless hinges on the locker/lazarette of the '78 CD25? I'd like to replace them all out. Anyone know of a source? I'm not averse to filling the old holes and installing replacements, but if so, I'...

Re: Coiling Line
I confess to doing the pretty loops method, but I will revisit that habit now. While underway, I quickly coil the headsail sheets (without tying them off) between tacks, so as to keep the cockpit orderly; this has resulted in the line fouled up in the fairleads. Now I know the cause! As for finishin...

Re: I have a Tohatsu 9.8
An amenity, but anything that keeps you from facing aft when operating the boat. I also have an electric start and remote control. Aesthetically I don't like the look of it in the cockpit, but it sure beats manually struggling with the outboard.Bibster wrote:...electric start and remote controll

Re: CD 26 outboard recommendations
Hi Ken, I will always suggest a longer shaft on an outboard. During a storm, you will have your hands full; no need to heighten the drama with a prop coming in and out of the water when you're trying to get back to safe harbor. As to horsepower, I have read that overpowering can lead the stern to &q...

Re: sails for sale
I remember seeing a post on Fri 12/23/16 from BigE looking for CD 25 sails. Maybe it's a match.

Re: CD 25 Port Lights
Hi Steve, I have a 1978 CD 25, and it does not have the bronze port lights either. This article - http://bluewaterboats.org/cape-dory-25/ - states that CD changed out the "fixed port lights to bronze opening ports around 1979". Maybe someone else will verify that.

Re: CD22 mast height ?
If there is a halyard on the mast, tie a line to it and hoist until the knot hits the sheave at the top of the mast and measure the length that way. On my CD25 the halyard passes over the top of the mast (atop two sheaves), so it's the highest point.

Re: CD22 mast height ?
This here has rig dimensions relative to the sail. So if you can measure from the top of the gooseneck to the deck, you should be close. See the measurement P = luff length of the mainsail, measured along the aft face of the mast from the top of the boom to the highest point that the mainsail can be...

What in the world? "Main Furling Matls" CD 25
There is a paper bag labeled and containing the below. Does anyone know what this is and maybe a link to the product page/manual? I suspect it's a lazy jack system for the main, but I have never sailed a boat with them installed before. The mast is currently down.
