Re: 1982 CD36 bilge access

Thanks for the replies. I've scoured the web and my owner docs trying to see how much room there is under the deck/floor. I did see another CD36 on yachtworld that has 3 accesses; where mine is, another just forward of that one about a foot and then another between the head and forward berth. As I'...

That's pretty much it - at least it is on hull #7.

Re: Storage with mast up

Most boats spend their lives with their rig tensioned without issue, so I suspect she'll be just fine on the hard. I have to remove the backstay for haulout, so I don't crank it back up to its usual tension when I reattach it. All of the other standing rigging is at its usual tension, however.

Re: ShrinkWrap Puzzler

What's wrapped around your furling foils? Halyards? Shrink wrap looks good, by the way ;)

Yep. No hose with our setup. I realize that's of absolutely no help to you, but you asked. ;)

Re: Overhead handrail pinch point

What about a small wooden spacer - enough to give your fingers room everywhere - between the overhead liner and the handrail?

Chris,

When Ariel was hauled by truck from Upstate New York to St. Joseph, it was about $1800. That was in 2002. FWIW.

Re: headsail size for a Cape Dory 25D

Thanks to all for the good feedback! One suggestion has come separately to me from another sailer friend: to use the working jib and then also carry a "drifter" sail (lightweight, ripstop nylon) when going downwind or reaching. It doesn't require a pole. Do any of you have experience with...

Or how about a Yankee Doodle Dandy? Here's Ariel's new-ish yankee. http://ariel-cd36.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/photo-28.jpg And her new-this-season, staysail (which will soon have a longer pendant to lower the tack!): http://ariel-cd36.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/IMG_7948...

Re: Typhoon Trailer available but with no papers -LAST CALL

Is anyone interested in a very sound, perfectly maintained trailer that is caught in limbo due to bureaucratic nonsense? I bought this trailer a few weeks ago in good faith that I could import it to Canada. I can not because the title says homemade. I can't get new registration in NY because I am n...

Re: toggles on stays

I replaced the mast and standing rigging on my Ty Senior. Looking at the diagram in the owner's manual, it looks like the backstay is attached to the mast crane using a toggle. I'm quite sure the backstay's marine eye was just pinned directly to the mast crane before. So I ordered a Schaefer toggle...
