Re: cabin rugs?
Measure up what you need, go to a carpet store and pickout the material and ask them to bind it. Then fasten some non-slip to the bottom.

Re: Above the Salish Sea II 2016
Sorry I wasn't able finally run into you this season. I made the trip up from Portland Oregon, leaving may 31 and got almost to la push Washington on about june 4 but was forced back with 20 miles to go when hit by gale force winds and 8 foot seas. Ended up sitting it out in Westport for 5 days befor...

Re: leak somewhere overhead
As a follow-up and to maybe help others in the future I will tell what I found when I did the repair. The outside rails are held on by long stove bolts through the roof and through the stand-off blocks supporting the inside rails. The end of the bolt is recessed in the stand-off and there is an airc...

securing toggles on rigging
The previous owner of my Cape Dory 270 used cotter keys for the toggles on the stays and shrouds. I was concerned about bare feet scraping across the deck level ones so replaced them all with the clevis pin rings. Was this a better way to go? Or is it one of those 50/50 decisions?

leak somewhere overhead
I have a small leak appearing in the side of the cabin at port height. I suspect it is coming from under the outside grabrail and dripping down onto the headliner and exiting out the side next to the interior grabrail. I did a search and read several posts about removing the rails but couldn't see a...

Gave notice to my marina in Portland today. Will be headed your way on June 1, or whenever the weather allows.

Re: Above the Salish Sea
The get together in ladysmith sound like fun. We have stayed there several times over the years. Might be too early for me to make it, weather dependant. But I will be watching for you. Am planning on spending a few days around nanaimo, also want to hit the west coast of the island while I am up ther...

Re: Above the Salish Sea
Been following your posts, love the pictures. I am getting my cd 270 ready to leave Portland Oregon early june for the trip up to your area. Have done it many times but never in this new-to-me boat. Should be interesting. Will look for you when I get to Friday Harbor in June.

Re: CD33 For Sale
That is truly a beautiful boat. Just curious, in looking at all the deck pictures I didn't see any gel coat crazing or cracking. Was all of your repaired or did you not have any. I know that most of the cape dorys had some.

Re: How much should I sell my 28 for?
On the west coast that boat should be worth a little more than that. I was thinking around 23 or so. There are some sites the surveyors use to see what boats actually sell for. Your boat appears to be a really nice one with great upgrades, go for the top.

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
That boat is so magnificent. My first keel boat was a 1974 Typhoon. I and a friend learned basic sailing on that boat. It is still my favorite boat. Because of having six kids it didn't suit my purposes but I loved it anyway. The only thing I think I would have changed is putting on a bow rail. Ther...

Re: fresh or salt for moorage
Thank you all for the replies. Still trying to decide about the moorage situation. In the columbia the boat is an hour from home, is in fresh water and quite a bit of good weather to do the outside maintenance, but the columbia is pretty limited for really good sailing. I can go south to newport, be...

fresh or salt for moorage
What are your thoughts of mooring year around in fresh water versus salt water? Wear and tear on boat, frequency of repairs and visits by a diver? I live in the pacific northwest and currently moor in the columbia river but will leave in the spring for a salt water destination, either north or south...
