Bilge Water etc
2 questions pls 1. I seem to get bilge water even when covered. Toe rails a little elevated (1/16 to 1/8 in) over a several foot section, wondering if hull/deck joint is the culprit. How do I test this theory ? 2. I did not remove all bilge water this fall. Probably 1 to 2 gal, maybe 3 below in bilg...

Where is the balsa core located ?
I am trying to assess my 78 Typhoon for Balsa core damage which based on tap testing I believe is limited to the cabin floor. Is anyone aware of a diagram showing where all of the balsa coring is located throughout the boatI want to make sure I examine every part where that got balsa core is located...

cd typhoon 197"cabin" sole core wet, glass delaminated
Hello fellow CD owners: I have a 1978 CD Typhoon which unfortunately has a core rot, glass delamination of most of the cabin sole. This is of no real significance to me since I only use the cabin, which is very small and not much overhead, for storage. My question is whether the group thinks there i...

Re: Cd typhoon cabin sole core problem
Thanks ! Am relieved to hear companionway wall is hollow. There has on occaision been some water on the floor as it seems to come in from the companionway, when no mooring cover was used.

Cd typhoon cabin sole core problem
The cabin sole/ floor core is rotted and fiberglass is delaminated. Elsewhere it seems solid by hammer tapping except possibly companionway wall which has some bounce to the hammer on tapping. Deck is 100% ok
Is the cabin floor of any structural significance ?
Thanks for any opinions

Re: Where are seacock valves located on a CD Typhoon
Skeep Thanks a million for your very informative photo, that helps, now I am that much closer ! The boat is in the water, and the Maine water is cold this time of year, so I am reluctant to don a wet suit and swim under the boat but I may have to. Can you tell me the location on the hull of the thro...

Where are seacock valves located on a CD Typhoon
I am a relative newcomer to the world of CD Ty sailing. My ' 78 CD Typhoon is now in the water and the scuppers are not draining correctly. I can find the scupper drain valves, their location is obvious. I cannot find the seacock valves (through hull valve) so often mentioned in this forum. Do you h...

How do scuppers function on a Typhoon, and how to unplug ?
I have a '78 CD Typhoon which is really a joy but for the second straight year the scuppers are not draining. Last year I was able to clean them by closing the valves and removing some debris from the brass fitting which leads into the hose in the cockpit. I had about a half inch of water in the coc...
