Which model of Bomar hatch is used as the forward one on the CD31?
Does anyone know a good place to buy an extension arm for whatever model that is?
Thanks in advance.
Dean

Speed of current during tide cycle
I'm confused about something. At what point during the tide cycle is the current strongest? Where we are, each ebb and flood takes about six hours. I have always thought that the maximum current is about at the 4-hour mark. Am I all wet, as it were? I am reading conflicting things on this subject. W...

Re: Can't open deckfill.
Dean, when it happened to me I did what gonesail did; insert the SS key, grip it with channel locks, get a crew to apply pressure and tap with hammer and big screwdriver. Also PB blaster. Since then, I add a coat of lanolin and replaced the o-ring and it's been better since. BTW I had to buy 50 o-r...

Can't open deckfill.
 Why us? Seriously. Today we went to get a pumpout. We have a deckplate for the holding tank on the cockpit sole, like that shown below. Good news: the pumpout station was functioning. Bad news: NOTHING I tried could get the cap to turn. Nothing. I Kroiled. I poured boiling water. I applied ton...

Re: What's inside my rudder?
Thanks, all, for the input.
I patched all four of the little cracks I found. I think they are good repairs. I’m not expecting any trouble. We launch in ten days. I l’ll see how things look in October.
Happy sailing, everyone.

Re: What's inside my rudder?
Though I'm sure not all rudders are constructed this way, the below set of pictures give a pretty typical idea of how they're put together. As a side note, Foss Foam recommends covering a dark-painted rudder with some kind of a white shield during layup to reduce heat from the sun. Perhaps this mig...

Re: What's inside my rudder?
You mean something like this? Totally different boat, but this may show you what you're up against. Freeze thaw is the enemy of rudders. Mine came completely de-laminated under way. By the staining, mine had clearly been leaking at the seam for a while. Just to be clear, is that your boat? On our r...

Re: 500 Errors from website...
What's happening with me is that after I click on Post, it goes to a totally blank page, instead of back to the thread like it used to. At first I thought the post was not going through; but actually the post does appear. But I need to go to History to return to the thread, or start again on the for...

Re: What's inside my rudder?
Thanks so much, Paul. A lot of good information there. Much appreciated. In case I decide to drill some holes in the rudder ... All the hole-filling I've ever done (related to removing or moving hardware) has been in the deck, where a) I could access the place where the bit came out, and b) I had gr...

What's inside my rudder?
Can someone tell me how my 31's rudder is constructed? In other words, what all is inside, and how it's put together? I had a tiny crack and was using the corner of a flat file to open it up to do a repair with epoxy. It was disconcerting to find that in that location (who knows where else?) the dig...

Painting anchor rode markings
What is the best type of spray paint to use to make length markings on an anchor rode? We have 100 feet of galvanized chain and 150 ft. of nylon plait. I want to mark at 50' intervals, so one or two marks will be on the chain, and two or three will be on the line. Does anyone have any suggestions on...
