Re: Torqueedo or not Torqueedo?
Thanks for the replies! I hear you all about running the lines dry. If I don't replace it this season I'll do that. Besides the carb issue though, I like the idea of an engine I can lift out after use, either to use it on my inflatable or just to avoid the barnacle build up. I'm wondering if anyone ...

Torqueedo or not Torqueedo?
Hi all. I am getting ready to jettison my 2 year old Tohatsu SailPro long shaft as it has been nothing but trouble. The old SailPros were great, but the redesigned models have carburetor issues, and are also slightly too large for the engine well. I noticed Torqueedo now has a 5HP with removable bat...

Re: CD25 Outboard help needed!
Here is my CD25 electric setup so far. I'll be adding a remote display and throttle. The electronic tiller will be removed. I will fab a small wooden tiller for outboard to turn outboard from top while docking. Once underway outboard tiller will fold down, outboard will be locked/pinned straight, c...

Re: CD25 Outboard help needed!
I probably should have gone this route! I got talked out of the propane option but the fact that it fits so nicely in the engine well makes up for any potential downsides. Does anybody else have an outboard they like that fits nicely in the well and can turn as freely? If so, please let me know as I...

Re: CD25 Outboard help needed!
I'd love to see that once you get some time to tackle the project. I strongly suspect I will be selling this Tohatsu in the fall and considering a different option.

Re: CD25 Outboard help needed!
I have a CD25 with a 2005 Mercury 9.9 that I want to replace. The Mercury has a cabled throttle/gear shift into the console area so I can control the motor at the tiller. It also has electric start, which is quite convenient. The steering on the motor is fixed so that all steering is done with the ...

Re: CD25 Outboard help needed!
Great video! Makes me weep thinking about Lookfar languishing in the marina. Another friend suggested just this engine, although he has his off a transom mount over. Can you take the tiller arm off while you're sailing, or does it just stay in the cockpit through the motor well hatch full time?

Re: CD25 Outboard help needed!
Thanks for the tip. I actually had to cut out a small channel from the glass on either side of the port below the traveler just to get the little turning radius I have, but maybe a more extensive modification would help.

Re: CD25 Outboard help needed!
Hi all. Here's an update for anyone interested in the 6HP SailPro from Tohatsu. The redesign of this engine is not a good fit for the CD25. They added handles on both the front and rear for easier lifting, which increases the length of the cowling from front to back and decreases any steerage you mi...

Re: CD25 Outboard help needed!
Tohatsu said neither handle was removable, but a local dealer who was looking at a model he had that wasn't the SailPro said the back one was. That propane version looks like it fits great! I'll look into that. I'm not worried about the tiller handle which can just fold back, and I think I can fix t...

Re: CD25 Outboard help needed!
Thanks. I have taken out the old mounting board as the previous owner had made some poor modifications and it needed to be refastened. I was thinking I might try lowering it or notching it. I can always make a new hatch cover with a few extra inches of clearance, but I'm having a hell of a time find...

CD25 Outboard help needed!
Hi all. I need a new outboard asap for my Lookfar. I was intending to install a new Tohatsu 6HP SailPro but the new design has handles on both the back and front of the engine and I think it won't fit in the engine well or if it does it won't turn at all. Are there any other engines you are using th...

CD25 '76 Locker Covers and Lazarette Covers Help
Hi all, The cockpit locker covers and lazarette covers on Lookfar are completely delaminated and need to be replaced. They are actually a danger as is. Does anyone have these as parts for purchase? They can't be repaired as is, so my options are to cast a mold and build my own from glass, or make ne...

Re: CD 25 Lazarette Cover
Hi Chris, My own lazarette cover is completely delaminated and I have to either make a new (beautiful) one from teak or find an old one that fits. If you have decided to replace this with something nicer, I would buy it off you. My Yamaha needs the few extra inches to clear the engine housing. Let m...
