Re: 1978 cape dory 27 for sale
tim,
thanks for the compliment. i owe the previous owners for the care they took. it was an easy decision to purchase
'godspeed' and a difficult one to sell her.
come east and i will put some salt on your sails.

Re: furler system for cd 27
thanks for all your replies. lots of good information that i much appreciate. my sailing is open atlantic out of cape may. a variety of wind and wave conditions, both of which are motivators for the switch to a furler, so i won't have to go forward, usually under less than ideal conditions. tim, you...

Re: High Water on the Mississippi
here in new jersey we have our own version of 'flooding.' its called nor'easters and hurricanes. so we are familiar with letting out lots of line both for the high and the low tides. is Slainte still in the water? how far above the lock and dam at alton are you?

Re: CD27 prop replacement source
i have a 1978 cd 27 with the original ysb8 and a three blade prop. is it original? your guess is as good as mine. i don't experience any vibration nor loss of power that i can attribute to the prop. the reversing issue is endemic to the full keel. there is an old post on this cape dory website offer...

Re: Holding our breath and watching Joaquin
cathy- we are beyond watching. we have had winds here in cape may for the last two days blowing northeast steady 20=25 with gusts to 40. the walk out the dock to check on godspeed at high tide was an adventure. the tide has not gone out to normal in a week. the hurricane is not even a concern. welco...

Re: October Sail
There is no October sailing along the southern New Jersey coast. we have gone from bad to worse: a week of small craft advisory to gale warning with gusts to 45. i crawled out the dock at the marina last nite just to check the dock lines and double up on the windward side. the weather will subside j...

i was below at the base of the mast; hoisted my son in the bosun's chair with the main halyard and winch and my wife on the jib halyard as a secondary line. we were more anxious than my son who took the pictures after the job was done.
