SOLD! Cape Dory 10 Sailboat, with motor and trailer SOLD!

This CD10 is covered with snow in my backyard now but will soon be beckoning for fun on the water. She just needs to find someone a bit younger than I. Her sailing gear is complete with fiberglass centerboard, varnished mahogany seats, rudder and tiller and original sail. She's an excellent r...

Gonna miss the thrills and spills on LaVida. She's a fine sailer and safe. Best wishes to the new owner and a toast to the previous.

Re: dock lines for New York State canal system

OJ, you say the nicest things. And it also should be known that you're the "go to guy" of all things nautical. As you say, transiting the canal system is straightforward after you've passed through your first lock. It's the anxiety level that rises before you actually do it that is the har...

Warren:
So sorry to hear about your loss. She's been with you quite a while and I'm sure you'll miss her. But there are other dreams in life and I'm sure you'll find them. Fair winds, my friend.

Re: Thanksgiving.

That is wonderful news, John. It means a lot to all of us Cape Dorians that you might return to us your sage advice. And all your experience that you take the time to tell us. Absolutely wonderful. I told Cyndy about your prognosis and she said it is truly a thankful Thanksgiving. We're in Portland ...

Re: Hmmm. It Must Be Saturday

I think I read the story of that unfortunate lay-off in a liberal newsletter, whose name I won't mention. The owners of the company overruled the foreman and read the riot act to him. It has always been the belief of the "HerShe" family that individual candies of the same "letter,&quo...

Re: Rough seas=full bilge on spring delivery

I would look at your sink drain. If the drain isn't blocked (seacock) while sailing, any time you're on a starboard tack, the top of the drain is below sea level and water then pours into your sink. When it overflows, the water ends up in the bilge. Even on the level, the water in the sink drainpipe...

Re: CD33 - Cutter or sloop?

This CD33 is a double-headed sloop with a yankee and a staysail. Cutter-rigged vessels have their main mast exactly in the middle of the length of the boat. Sloops have their masts more forward. Sailed this way has its advantages. I had a CD330 and loved the way she handled with a yankee by itself o...

Re: Nautical Charts of Lake Ontario and Thousand Islands Reg

You definitely should have stepped up sooner. If I knew you needed the charts, I would have given them to you free of charge. Too late. They are gone now. I sold them for four and a quarter! That's $4.25! For all 33 charts. :( The starting bid was $0.99 .

Nautical Charts of Lake Ontario and Thousand Islands Region

All my paper charts have been put on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/221506635657?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649) and will sell as a unit. You can probably buy them all for less than a cup of coffee as there are no bids as yet and the opening bid is $0.99. If you need any, now...
