Original blue deck color.

Hi all,

I would like to match the blue color on my CD 27 decks. Did a search but couldn't find specifics. Just want to do the cockpit for now, so want it to be a close match to the decks. Don't want to go the Kiwi grip route at this time.

Suggestions ??

Thanks,

Re: Changing jibs on windy days

Fred and Joe,

Unrelated to changing jib, but related to wind on Narragansett Bay. Hit personal best of 6.3 knots (briefly) SOG this week. 1 reef in main with genoa out full. I believe theoretical hull speed for the 27 is 6.0. Fred, that red hull must be making you even faster. :?

Re: CD 25 Off Shore Capabilities

Chris, You probably already have, but Google Cape Dory Circumnavigation and you will find info on CD 25s that have gone offshore. Has previously stated, may not be the most comfortable.

Would it be possible to dredge at the new dock? Probably only a couple of feet. You probably already considered this. Just a thought.

Cooper Aloft

My son Cooper hoisted aloft to retrieve a halyard and rig a flag halyard. First time I hoisted anyone aloft, and a first for him. We had three crew manning winch and secondary halyard and winch for safety. Went smoothly after we figured out what to do.

Re: Going aloft

Thank you for all the suggestions .Lots of good ideas.

Lightest of us is about 140 lbs. if he is not comfortable or there is to much wind we will abort.

Rather pay the yard crane service than hospital bills.

Re: Aft rail gate

I bolted on a folding ladder from a CD 33. Owner had installed a wind vane and could no longer use the ladder.

Yes strength is a concern. Tapping or through bolting the fittings is a good idea. Still thinking no cutting yet.

Re: CD27 swim ladder

I installed the stern boarding ladder ( from a CD 33) needs minor modification of support struts. Am considering making a fold out of the way, hinged gate in the pushpit so I don't have to climb over the rail. Still thinking....

Going aloft

Greetings, Need to go aloft for a couple of tasks. Can I send 150 lb man up in bosons chair using two strong guys on the mast mounted winch? One to grind and one to tail. That winch is used for the main which does not weigh 150 lbs. Having not done this before, we will wear gloves and practice a cou...

Aft rail gate

Greetings, I have mounted a boarding ladder on the transom of my CD 27. I works well but I have to climb over the aft rail once I get aboard. I would like to incorporate a "gate" in the aft rail. Easy to cut, and I found a hinge on line, but I would need some kind latching devise on the no...

Re: Soad blast, new anti fouling, boot and cove stripes.

Jean, you guessed right, stands were moved around for painting.

Joe, the early 27s did not have the "eye brows ". I wish I she had them, I think they look nice. But you are right, one more thing to varnish.

Re: Trailers and Boats

Not to steer you away from our beloved CDs but maybe a catboat would be easier to launch and recover. You could go as small as a beetle cat or a little bigger Sanderling 18. I see several Typhoons on trailers around here, (Narragansett Bay) but I think some of them are craned onto their trailers. A ...
