Re: Custom Dodger for my CD30
Thanks guys! I like it too, but honestly if I knew it was going to cost so much, I wouldn't of got it. I know for most that $1300 is pretty cheap, but for me that's like three months of sailing haha. The downside to having work done in a Filipino boat yard is that they won't ever give you a price on...

Re: Custom Dodger for my CD30
I finally left the boat yard and was able to take some proper pics. And to answer your question it took 29 days, paying two people to work 8 hour days. The grand total was around $1300.

Re: Custom Dodger for my CD30
Here's one from a little farther back. Still not the greatest. I just left the boat yard today so when I anchor I'll jump in the dinghy and take a side profile pic.

Custom Dodger for my CD30
Wrapping up a little refit in the yard here in the Philippines. One of the things I had made was a custom dodger as the canvas one was falling apart after my pacific crossing. I was worried that the new fiberglass dodger was going to ruin the classic lines of the boat but overall I think the workers...

Re: Does anyone have pics of weather cloth on their CD's?
Here is a shot of mine from the inside. Mariah has two solar panels outside the weather cloth on a rail. The cloths hide the back of the panels effectively. i have the two blocks on the track for the yankee sheet that Paul was talking about in addition to an aft turning block that runs the sheet fo...

Re: Does anyone have pics of weather cloth on their CD's?
Thanks for the pics guys! I see both of you have the cloth going the entire length of the cockpit. Does the headsail sheets pass under the cloth? And if so, have you had any problems with that?

Does anyone have pics of weather cloth on their CD's?
I have a local canvas shop in the Philippines that can fabricate some canvas weather cloth for the cockpit at a pretty reasonable rate, but before I commit I was wondering if anyone had some pics with them installed around their cockpit. Also how do you like them? It would be nice to stop having wav...

Re: Sailing "Cascadia" my CD30 Around the World
I really want to do this on Raven. Are the window areas flat or curved? There are a lot of difficult areas to work around. I would love to see a bunch of close up pictures when they get it done. Things like how it is fastened to the boat and how they managed the offset hatch and those pesky combing...

Re: Sailing "Cascadia" my CD30 Around the World
Andy, Wishing you continued safe passages! If you could document the process of designing and constructing the hard dodger it would be of great interest to many CD owners. Best of luck! Unfortunately I was gone when they started the project, so I don't have the best details. I know they used my old...

Re: Sailing "Cascadia" my CD30 Around the World
Hey Everyone! It's been a while since I updated my progress but I can finally say that I sailed my Cape Dory across the largest ocean in the world! I lost my transmission 400 miles outside of the Philippines but was able to sail Cascadia all the way into the boat yard in Cebu and get it pulled out. ...

Re: Sailing "Cascadia" my CD30 Around the World
Oh, that's actually a good idea. I'm getting some work done in the Philippines in a few weeks and I'm sure they could fabricate something like that.tjr818 wrote:Here is a novel way to redirect the anchor chain:
This is from the folks at Off Center Harbor, always an interesting site, but mostly wooden boats.

Re: Sailing "Cascadia" my CD30 Around the World
Andy Thoughts on you manual windlass. Are you happy with it or would you have chosen something different given your experiences? Honestly, I never use it. It works fine, and I believe the leverage is 2:1, but It's mounted too far forward so all the chain bunches up in the peak of the bow. If it was...
