Re: Rust on Stainless Steel.

I have had great success using Collinite Metal Wax No. 850.
It removes superficial rust from stainless with little effort.
It also leaves a protective film that last a good while.
I use it at the beginning of each season.

Re: Nor'easter slamming New England Wednesday

It’s starting to blow here in Mt Siani. I took you advice and secured all lines. Tied my main up like a pork roll and did the same to the jib.

I am fortunately on a floating dock but it still gets quite nasty.

Hope it passes quickly.

Thanks for the “Heads Up”

Typhoon for sale

This is not my boat but members of my sailing association are selling a very nice Typhoon. If you are interested, sent me a PM. I’ll send you their contact information. This Alberg design was given the nickname “America’s littlest yacht” With her Full keel, it makes this little yacht very stable Gre...

That would be nice… There is no such storage on the 25D… (maybe time for an upgrade :D )

Re: CD 25D Mystery fittings

In my 25D, these sockets retain the barrel bolt that holds the hinged seat back in the down and up positions. If your seat backs were removed, you may find screw holes under the teak shelf where the hinges were attached. There is no storage (shelves or otherwise) provided behind the backs. - Steve ...

Re: CD 25D Mystery fittings

I think Steve is likely correct. My 25D hull #111 (only a few after yours) does have the articulated seat backs, just as Jim is showing. The holes are the detents for the barrel bolts to hold the backs in the up or down positions. I also have the same upholstery as you. Could the seat backs have be...

Re: CD 25D Mystery fittings

Well Thank you both!

The 25D does not have such an ability. Cape Dory must have used the same bulkhead for both models!
The cushions are loose and there is (unfortunately ) no storage behind them.. boy I wish there was..

Without the forward V-berth, the double-wide is the best we have..

Thanks!

Re: CD 25D Mystery fittings

Looks like a detent to hold the barrel bolt which holds your seat back in an open and closed position. Jim, The settee slides to become a "double wide" so if would never swing up.. There is only a cotter pin in a hole to keep it from sliding underway. It's not a big deal, they just look l...

CD 25D Mystery fittings

Hello All,
Does anyone know what the small nylon fittings are for on the bulkhead between the forward cabin (head) and the main cabin?

There are two of them and I have no idea what they could be for.. They look like factory fittings..

Just curious...

Re: CD25D tiller bolt

I reworked my tiller (CD25D) by both drilling the hole to the next bolt size and adding silicon bronze washers (McMaster-Carr) to both sides of the post.
All it takes is a little tightening once or twice a season and the tiller stays very solid.

Re: Vexing problem

I decided to fix the manifold sooner when I got a bit inspired by the SeaTech fittings I saw at FreshWaterSystems.com. To anyone interested, the manifold consists of: 3 single stem bodies (left), 3591-1810 1 single union body, 3589-1810 1 end plug 3546-18 1 reducing stem 3514-1810 5 stackable hose ...
