Re: Torqueedo Outboard motor for a Typhoon Weekender?
Hi Susan, was wondering how the electric motor option worked out. I am also looking into that but was worried I'd run out of charge too soon and be left with no alternative propulsion...

Re: Typhoon outboard motor
I haD a 6 HP Suzuki that just went, and was wondering about the minimum HP I could get away with. Seeing the comments about the Honda 2.3 air-cooled, I am interested. I sail in Narragansett Bay, usually the nothern parts. I want the lightest and least costly, and the 2.3 seems like it might fit the ...

Re: Typhoon motor mount on rear deck
In this case, delamination without wetness, if I remove the core from underneath and epoxy, in its place, a composite type backer board to stiffen the fiberglass, would this be something you think might be reasonable as a long term repair? Not a perfect solution, but a 90% solution?

Re: Typhoon motor mount on rear deck
Ok and thanks for the info. I will find out next week and let you know. The small access hole is being replaced by a larger rectangular lexan type which will provide better access for putting holes in the core, if in fact there is balsa there. My fingers are crossed that it is just thick glass....

Typhoon motor mount on rear deck
I had a fiberglass guy look over the deck because it flexes some with the motor mount/motor (motor is 57 lbs). Said he thought, but was not sure, maybe it was only glass without a core. I thought a core like balsa had to be there. Thoughts?

Typhoon Forestay
I am replacing my Typhoon's forestay. What is the proper name for the part at the top/head of the forestay that attaches to the mast? For the life of me I cannot even remember what it looks like, although I've stepped my mast twice now.

Stands
I am going to purchase storage stands for my Typhoon and am wondering how many and what size is correct. I was thinking four would be enough, so I'd be able to avoid a fifth one at the bow. Thank you.

Re: Stepping masts - Typhoon
I meant to reply sooner. I stepped it very easily myself. I secured a ladder (raised to about 12 feet) to the stern, stood in the cockpit and raised the rear of the mast and laid it on the top rung, while the foot was secured with the pins in place. With shrouds and backstay attached, I just pushed ...

Typhoon sail control
For sailing the Typhoon Weekender in 15-20 kts wind, gusting 25+, am thinking a furling jib and 1-2 reefs in the mainsail should be helpful. Was out in those winds, and thought would be more comfortable. My current set-up has no furler and no reefs in the main. Would appreciate thoughts.
