Voltmeters are cheap, even available at Walmart.
Sometimes free even, at Harbor Freight. Getting them to work, however, is often another matter.

Re: Short Video - aboard CD22D

Gary, what camera do you use? Looks like it has a leveling feature or is on a gimbal mount? Frank, if I'm not mistaken, those appear to be Harken traveler end controls w/cams . Harken switched over to all metric a few years ago, I believe, but the 27mm (midrange boat size) fittings may work for your...

Re: CD 28 conversion to mid-boom traveler

I'm sure you're aware but if not keep in mind that a mid-boom traveler/main sheet arrangement puts a great deal more stress on the boom at the attachment points than an end-boom mainsheet, so at least 2 if not 3 boom bails should be utilized to spread the stress over a greater length of the boom, de...

Re: Ebay Scam on Boat Parts

I, too, have purchased extensively on ebay, amazon and craigslist. I bought both my 1st CD, an '80 Typhoon for $1500 and my '88 CD26 several years later for $6000 on ebay. Both were relative steals. I purchased all sorts of hardware to repair, maintain or upgrade them from ebay over the years, as we...

Very nice, as usual. I have high expectations whenever Ring Productions releases a video and it never fails to disappoint.

Re: Boarding ladder for Typhoon?

At least they didn't name them "In-N-Out" ladders". That would have been over the top.

I don't think you have to be a "member", but you do have to create an account as you would to order from most online stores.

Re: CD 26 O/B in salt water

I have a 9.9 hp Honda (100lbs) that sits in the well of my CD26 for about 3-4 month each summer. After about 2 month of every to every other weekend sailing, the intake channels start to get a little clogged up with marine life. On multiple occasions I've had to clean out small shell-like material f...

Re: The Best Rock Songs about Sailing

Loggins and Messina's "Sailin' The Wind", which closes out their "Full Sail" album, draws parallels between kite-flying and sailing.

Lyle Lovett's "If I Had A Boat" is another good one.

Re: CD Typhoon bulkhead mounted compass

Kudos to Bob for being able to re-orient his thinking to look at the compass behind him to see his way forward! I have directional issues with that mount that he doesn't have! :) :D Since the compass was at my feet and the Ty was my first sailboat with a compass, looking back or re-orientation was ...

Re: CD Typhoon bulkhead mounted compass

On the Typhoon that I previously owned the compass was mounted on the aft wall of the cockpit, which worked out pretty well for me. No problems with anyone blocking the view or being uncomfortable leaning up against it.

Nice catch! Big Eye and Yellowfin are both called ahi in Hawaii and nowadays in other parts of the US. The Big Eye is more desired for sashimi because of its higher fat content. I bet it was ono!
