Re: Extra wire in lightning ground system?

I believe that when they refer to the lightning ground system and the bonding that they are talking about the same system.

Re: Adding 30 degree angled steps to companion way stairs

Many years ago I had a Yankee Dolphin 24 which was designed by SS. It looks very similar to a CD25D with the exception that it was a keel/centerboard. There was a handful of designers in the 60’s/70’s the designed the type of boats we are drawn to. On another note an interesting story about Carl Alb...

Re: Stubborn Seacocks and Table Legs

“ I was thinking that I could probably find a galvanized pipe length that I could slip over the handle that might help me get a bit more leverage for now.“ Be careful adding leverage to the seacock handle. The bronze handle and/or tab on the end of the plug may not be able to stand up to the extra l...

Re: Adding 30 degree angled steps to companion way stairs

Good work. Very rewarding when you are pleased with the plan, execution, and results of a project. Interesting how different the aft layouts between the two CD 30s in the photos--your boat and gonesail. Very rewarding indeed! Gonesail is a CD30MkII designed by Clive Dent, production 1987-1990, 31 b...

Re: Adding 30 degree angled steps to companion way stairs

MOONDANCE launched on April 15th and the step angles are perfect. It’s pretty windy in Nantucket sound this time of year and I’ve been double reefed and staysail most of the time and the angled steps are a great improvement. See pic below

Re: Lewmar 7 winches & Spartan bronze winch stand assemblie

Would you sell the bases separately? If so what is the height and top pad diameter? Spartan only lists them as #7, #10 and #16.
I upgraded from single speed 10’s to 2 speed 30’s and would like to use the 10’s as secondaries.

Re: Adding a lazarette to a CD30

Nice work on the hatch, Keith! Unrelated question .... couldn't help but notice the drill-holes into the cockpit's sole .... purpose of these ? A few years ago I was getting a slight flexing in the cockpit sole. It happened when I would pull on or lean on the pedestal loop. I assumed that it was du...

I was told that I had that same smile the first time I flew my new asymmetrical last year.

Adding 30 degree angled steps to companion way stairs

On a CD30 when on port tack you can brace your foot against the side of the icebox when going below while healed over. However when on a starboard tack there is only air for a brace. This has bugged me for years. So here is my solution. Before 2F51D0CB-6598-4BE5-8911-2FB9D3B6C1AB.jpeg Individual ste...

Re: Adding a pilot berth to a 28

Here’s the cushions on one side with the table up and with the table down. The two cushions from the other side of the dinette fill out the berth.

Note the sawdust on the cushions and sole.

Re: Adding a pilot berth to a 28

If you are looking to have a chart table you could consider converting one of the settees to a dinette. On my CD30 I converted the starboard settee. It also drops down to make a berth. You loose one 25 gal water tank but gain storage. CF328657-2F4F-47AB-9DF3-2B6928D36974.jpeg 55D5EF53-687A-46F2-AA9D...
