Craizing on Deck of 81 Typhoon
We are considering buying an 81 Typhoon and find some crazing on the deck and a deteriorated covering on the teak and a few other minor issues. I have read many of the postings on this subject and am leaning toward the Interlux epoxy primer 404/414 approach. The deck and cockpit feel sound. Any thou...

Teak
Thanks for the tips. I had my CD25 for ten years. The teak was gray when I purchased it. A lot of sanding and prep and several coats of Cetol did the trick. Every year it was spot sanding and Cetol. I like the grey look, but my first mate of 48 years likes a pristine boat. Before my CD25, I learned ...

Replacement for Heather CD25
I'm looking to replace my CD25 which just sold. I am thinking of a CD Typhoon (19 ft.). However: I would also like to consider similar 19 foot full heavy keel boats with less or no wood to maintain. Any suggestions?
Thanks

CD 25 water tank
I have a 1974 and the water tank does not leak. I fill it each year for weight forward and use it for cleaning the boat. I put a gallon of potable anti-freeze in each year and pump it dry in the spring. Then I fill it with clean water and use for cleaning the boat but not drinking. We just day sail ...

I have a cd25 1974. The main sail, A UK Replacement, just has the letters C with a D inside and the number 25. No hull number.

Honda 8 cooling
Thanks for all your help. I decided to take it to the dealer and found the thermostat stuck closed with salt. The impeller and housing was also chewed up. My previous motor was a Mariner 8 that was 20 years old with the original impeller and thermostat. Humbug! Don't have the bill yet. The thermosta...

Intermittent cooling water from Honda 8
Cooling water is discharged intermittently from my 2006 Honda 8hp which I use on my CD25. The marina where I bought it says I may need to replace the impeller (pump). That seems odd to me since the motor has about 50 hours on it. Any thoughts? If I need to replace the impeller, how do I do it? Any t...

Genoa Car Placement - CD25
There are about 25 holes on each of my one-inch tracks for the Genoa Car. What's an ideal location using a 150 Genoa?
Thanks

Thanks for all the advice. I remember tightening my back stay this spring more than usual because it seemed loose. Today I loosened it two full turns which gives it about1/8 inch more length. I also re greased all the grease spots. I have always attached the genoa directly to the base of the Furlex ...

Hi Carl That's great news!!.. We went for our first sail of the season today and had one of our four year old twin grandsons aboard who wanted to hold the tiller. We made all kind of wierd moves but he had fun. Thanks again for the gas can. Will you be doing a maine coast trip this year again? Tom :D

Roller Furler - Sticking or Binding
Today we took our first sail of the season even though I put the sails on a month ago. Wind was only 5-10 knots this PM. I put up the main and then I released the control line on the furler holding my UK 150 Genoa. It only went out a third and then stopped. I pulled hard on the sheets even using the...

Honda classic in my CD 25
Last year I installed a Honda classic 8HP which is physically smaller than the regular Honda 8. I'm in a pretty swift current and need the 8HP. It fits nicely. Had to adjust the motor mount. The tiller will fold down to allow installation and then pull up to horizontal for access through the motor t...

Height of Genoa on Roller Furler
My genoa is about a foot shorter than my roller furler on my CD25. Do I pull the genoa all the way up the furler and add a foot of line or do I attach the genoa at deck level and have it a foot lower at the mast head? Or half way in between?
Thanks

mast hinge
I did a similar thing when I first put up my mast on my CD25. It broke right at the hinge. I bought a stainless replacement from rig rite that has a hinge fore and aft. It elevates the mast about 3/4 inch;so you will need to loosen all the stays. I didn't do that at first, and the mast would not go ...

Spreader Replacement
I used Marine-Tex epoxy to seal the birch dowel inside the aluminum tube. Before climbing the mast I attached The spreader tip to the stay with new stainless wire and put on a new boot. When I placed the new spreader in the base it would not go in far enough. So I tried a little WD-40. No help. I th...
