Re: Anyone have a CD-25 out of the water in North Carolina?

Not sure if you are still looking but I keep my CD 25 (older version) on a trailer, I am located just north of Charlotte and would be happy to let you take some measurements. If you can't make it, I would be happy to take some measurements for you along with some photos

Bottom Paint for my trailerable CD25

OK, first the good news, after owning my '78 CD25 for 12 months now, I achieved my goal of being able to reliable keep and launch it from a trailer. If you would like to know more about that science experiment, shout, I would be happy to tell you more. My next project is to paint the hull and the ar...

Re: looking at used CD 25--need advice

I would shop around on sailboat listings.com I personally think u could get a 25 that's clean and ready to go for Under $5k. I think the 25 you are considering will take a bunch of work and certainly longer than May to get functional. I bought mine 12 months ago in worse shape and have it functional...

Re: 25D Cabin Cushions FREE

I might be ok with that, at least i could cut them down modify the slip covers. If you hve the cushions handy, could you measure the of the settee cushions and the lenght of the Vberth cushions?

As long as they are close, I can make them work.

Thanks again

Re: 25D Cabin Cushions FREE

Holy cow, you are the answer to my sailing prayers my friend, sign me up, I will take them! I bought my 25 last September and the inside was a complete mold spore and as you can imagine, the cushions were a complete science experiment. They were the first thing to go into the trash, then I gutted an...

Planning a small journey

Hi folks, I am interested in planning a sailing trip from Charleston, SC to Hilton Head this coming spring and wanted to see if anyone had any good suggestions for me on this first endeavor. I have done 3 coastal trips before (just a couple miles off shore, nothing huge) from Beaufort, NC to Cape Lo...

Re: Leak while under sail

If the water is in the cockpit locker and doesnt show up until you have sailing I would suspect the rudder post or the two cockpit seacock drains located aft of the rearmost bulkhead that separates that area from the cabin (ok let me take a breath afterntaht olympic sized run on sentence) I think th...

Re: Outboard for CD25

Nigel, I have a Mercury 9.9 HP (it's a 1989 vintage) with a long shaft length. While I have only had it once it was a nice amount of power for getting my CD25 in and out of slips and incoming currents. I can't imagine running with less horsepower but I know people have. Fits great under the lazarett...

Re: Ethanol Blues...

A couple of bits of information from here in Charlotte, NC; 1) The guy who works on all my 2 stroke lawn equipment was adamant that ethanol based fuel tends to deteriorate poly based parts in carburators and suggested I switch to non ethanol gas 2) A couple of threads up someone talked about it eati...

I would also recommend Deltaville as well. We spent 4 days sailing in and areound that area. There are multiple Marinas, reasonable prices and I think 3 or 4 places with lifts.

Re: Wood For Exterior Applications

I have recently used Ipe that I bought in a home supply center as I read it has comparable properties to teak. It was a peice of 8' decking 1" x 6" wide for around $33. It's like iron and has a great red color and is very durable when it comes to holding wood screws and taking a load. I wo...

Re: Ice Box drain

Steve and Dick, thanks for the advice. In spirit of fun humor, I too was amazed at the volume the designer allocated to that box. Not sure if they were storing food or hauling deer home from a hunting trip! You guys now have me thinking perhaps I might design cavity to hold a store bought cooler tha...

Ice Box drain

I am getting ready to refurb and reinstall the ice box on my '78 CD 25 after gutting and teh main cabin. I have never used it and like any cooler, I would imagine afer a couple of days bits of food etc will be there. My question is what has anyone done to keep that kind of material from making it's ...
