Thanks John, I'll try it tomorrow. Was gonna work on the boat today buy got offered a chance to sail with my buddy on his Oday 28. Nice boat. Quite roomy compared to my CD 27. That was more fun than mucking nwith West System. BTW I saw a real fine Cape Dory 26 out by Stepping Stones Light. That boat...

Repower 2ym15 upate, and cable housing removal dillemma

Hello all, So far I have removed the old YSM8, and everything that goes with it; except for the housing that the cables and control handles attach to. I removed the handles. All my cables are detached and removed. I just cannot figure out how to separate the part that is on the exterior of the port ...

Hey Bob,

I just removed my engine and marked everything. I have to run a few errands. When I get home, I'll checkm my notes and give you the color wires to letters. I too have the YSM. Soon to be the 2YM 15.

John and Warren, I like the idea about painting it mottled. Although I like the idea of white I know that it does get dirty easily down there. Also I figured if I dropped a screw which of course never happens, it would be easier to see. The decorative painting effect seems appealing. Warren, as far ...

Thanks Chase,

I'll await a few more posts for some more ideas and start grinding later in the week. I was not fortunate to have mine spinning with the shaft. Ha ha.

CD27 Cutlass bearing replacement and Yanmar 2YM 15

I've removed the YSM8, shaft, prop and most misc engine related parts from Puffin. After much thought and research, the best fit for my needs as a replacement engine will be a 2YM 15. I don't think I need any more power. I'm going to do the bulk of the work myself with a local Yanmar dealer to do th...

CD 27 repowering dilemma

It may be time to repower Puffin. It seems like my options are limited. Although the Beta Marine is a great motor, I suspect getting parts will be difficult. There is an awesome Yanmar dealer and service business in my area called Precision Marine in New Rochelle; if I repower I'll use them. These g...

Getting more of a crumudgeon by the year.....

Hi Warren, I was just going over this with a friend lately. My ideal ratio of sailors to earthlings is 4:1 onboard Puffin. Ideally, the cockpit is comfortable with 3. I'm tired of telling someone for the 50th time it's called a sheet, and it winds clockwise round that round thing thats called a winc...
