Loose outboard bracket on Typhoon

The outboard bracket on the deck of my Typhoon is loose. The bolts (or screws??) don't "bite" when tightenend. Do you have to gain access under the deck to tighten the bracket? If so, how is that accomplished?

Replacement backstay for Typhoon

I have a 1973 Typhoon Weekender. The backstay has several kinks or bends in it and I'd like to replace it. Can anyone recommend a company where I can get a replacement. Is 1/8 x 27 feet the right size (1 x 19 wire)???

Thanks.

Emergency tiller for Typhoon

I need to make an emergency tiller to carry on board in the event my tiller breaks while I'm sailing. Other than carrying an exact duplicate, does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks,

Teak planking on Typhoon hatch

I am planning to cover the hatch of my Typhoon with strips of teak, using plans from "The Sailors Sketchbook" by Bruce Bingham. The plans say to trowel a two-part "paste-type" epoxy onto the area to be planked. It is recommended that the epoxy have a setting time of two or three ...

Reinforcement of Typhoon hatch

The fiberglass hatch on my Tyhoon has too much flexibility when I step on it. Any ideas for reinforcing it or building a new, stronger one?

Use of long-shaft outboard on dinghy

I have a 3.5 hp Nissan long-shaft outboard on my Typhoon. Does anyone foresee problems with using this same outboard for my Achilles 8' inflatable dinghy, for example, will the propeller be too deep in the water??

Thanks,

Question re: halyard on CDI Furler 2

I purchased a used Typhoon with a CDI Flexible Furler 2. I removed the sail for repair and it won't be ready for a week or so. I'd like to step the mast, but want to make sure I can successfully raise the sail on the furler when the mast is already up. The owner's manual appears to say the you tie a...

GPS operating instructions

I have never used a GPS before and was recently given a Garmin Legend "etrex" model. Other than the manual and the video that came with it, which I'm not finding too helpful in helping me understand how to operate the GPS, does anyone know of a good book that explains in clear language how...
