and the cover is
Good for you Neil. I know just how you feel. I lived in Gardner MA for about ten years and every spring it was a big rush to go out to the garage and take the cover off my 1951 Mercury (I didn't have my CD then). I now live aboard and sail the Caribbean but sometimes I really miss the change of seas...

Anchor rode
Hi Everyone, I'm looking to replace my anchor rode and I noticed an ad for something called "Brait" in a sail magazine. It's supposed to be stronger and resist chafing better than regular three strand nylon and stores in less space. Has anyone tried this product or know any pros & cons...

Charts?
Back in the days before charts they had small boats they would use to explore unfamiliar areas before sailing (or warping) in the bigger ship. Plus they sailed in like porcupines make love, very carefully.
Cheers,
Mike R.

Hi Peter,
If there was ever a prize for really cool boat names I would vote for yours.
I don't know where Lake Winnipesaukee is but I think I heard of it once in a limerick.
Cheers!! (hope you find someone)

I go by the colors. Red is bad, yellow is so-so, but when I'm green I'm golden.

Welcome back
Hi Ron, It's good to be back. There were times when I wondered if I'd ever see Sunshine again. It was quite an adventure. I'll tell you all about it if you ever come down again. I neglected Sunshine for a while but I'm planning to fix that over the next few weeks. I want to make a trip to the Domini...

Zinc Chromate
Dick, Rich & O J, Thanks for the info. I was thinking that maybe the aluminum was becoming brittle. I should be able to find the Zinc Chromate here.
Rich, I read your post about Sta-lock fittings. WOW!!
O. J., more mustard.

MD7A Thermostat
Hello VM, overheating could be several reasons. Check your impeller, sometimes blades break off and clog the system. You may need to remove the manifold and thermostat housing and clean them really well. Soak them overnight in an acid solution (15%). Once the thermostat is out you can check if it wo...

Cast aluminum gooseneck & mast step
Hi all, My gooseneck and mast step is cast aluminum that was painted black at one time. It now has sort of a white chalky gangrenous aspect to it. Would it be okay to sand and repaint it or is this chalky substance an indication of imminent failure?
Thanks in advance

Hurricane prep
My heart goes out to you. Been there done that. Tie fenders or anything else you can to the slip itself. If any lines let go she will beat herself up against the sides. Good luck and God bless.
