Re: Good Old Boat review of Cape Dory Typhoon Weekenders

If you're planning to send a review to Good Old Boat, here's what they are looking for: "Specifically, Dan wants to know about: · sailing characteristics (good and bad) · level of quality in the build · what you like most about the boat · what you like least about the boat · specific problems y...

Re: Typhoon Cockpit Cover

Chris, A great start. I'll be following your project with much interest. A few questions: 1. Will the tent go under or over the boom? 2. It looks as if it will be self supporting, with a ridgepole and arches. Is that the idea? Any reason why you're not using the boom as the ridge pole? 3. Will the t...

Re: Typhoon Cockpit Cover

I would be interested in a cockpit cover. I would use it for overnights, to give me more usable room out of the weather. But I might also use it on my mooring if it weren't too difficult to remove when I want to go sailing. If there were enough interest among other Weekender owners maybe Sailor's Ta...

Re: Winter storage in NH for Typhoon

I keep my Typhoon on a trailer during the winter (in Maine). I just put a $50 tarp over it, being careful to tie it tight with rope. It works fine. I learned some tricks about tying tarps by observing how the crew at a local boatyard does it although I don't use wood supports like they do. The most ...

Re: Robinhood Marina

Welcome to Robinhood (I have a house just down the street from the Marina, so you're talking about my neighborhood). One thing you didn't mention is that the marina is owned and operated by Andy Vavolotis, the builder of Cape Dory boats. He's moved on to other things, obviously, but if you run into ...

Re: need advice or confort

When I was looking for a Typhoon in the winter of 2011 - 2012, I made a spreadsheet of all that I could find for sale nationwide. I included in the spreadsheet such features as age, trailer, motor, and so forth -- the ones that were important to me. Here's what I found: https://www.dropbox.com/s/chu...

Re: free Typhoon in MA

Most states have a way of obtaining a title to a boat that doesn't have one. Here's how to do it in MA: http://www.mass.gov/eea/grants-and-tech ... boats.html

very early typhoon weekender

Here's a very early (#5?) Typhoon Weekender: http://nh.craigslist.org/boa/4168572809.html

This boat was apparently made by Cape Dory but it's quite different from later Weekenders. Does anyone know the story on this design?

typhoon -- might be a steal

This looks interesting: http://maine.craigslist.org/boa/4021959254.html

I have no financial interest in this boat, but I wish I had gotten my Typhoon for this price.
