Rigging Company
Anyone have any experience with the Rigging Company out of Annapolis? Not much for riggers here in Wisconsin. I've called around some and didn't get much help on the phone (not naming names) until I tried The Rigging Company. Where others said fill out the form online and we'll give you an estimate,...

Re: Leoma update 2/7/21
I don’t know what I would do with the FR if my kids don’t want her. Maybe load her up with all my tools and give me a viking funeral. Might need those tools with me in the next life. John, needing your tools in the next life reminds me about the time a handyman got sent to hell by mistake. After a ...

Re: New Name for our boat...
I recommend Vigor's denaming ceremony. It worked for me when I changed the name on my CD. http://johnvigor.com/Denaming.html You're a little bit in peril because the ceremony should be done before the new name is anywhere on the boat. But exceptions can be made for really well cared for boats. It lo...

I may have my old one, but I'm traveling out of state and won't be able to check for a while.

Re: Preparing for the Worst: Man Overboard
As I often do, I find my self agreeing with John. Stay on the boat. I tell guests that the boat is a two story building and you're on the roof. If you're on a two story building you'll be real careful not to fall off. So don't fall off the boat. I regularly sail out farther than most other boats fro...

A great loss. But he will live on in the many, many sailors he inspired to do more and go more.

Re: Access hatch in cockpit sole of 28 Cape Dory
A simpler solution to the water pump is a Speedseal cover. The cover is machined with an O-ring and knurled screws. It can be changed quickly by feel. Eliminates paper gasket and it lines up quickly. I once spent an age trying to fit the cover which I didn't know had non symmetrical screw holes. Her...

Re: Planning a 2021 sailing trip in Wisconsin's Lake Michiga
There was a Lake Michigan Cape Dory Owners Association but it is no longer active. Sturgeon Bay to Sister Bay is a relatively short distance. In a weeks time you can cover a lot of ground if you wish or take it slow. Between Sturgeon Bay and Sister Bay you have nice marinas at Egg Harbor and Fish Cr...

Re: CD25 water tank and cabin insert question
Kracor in Wisconsin made the water tank in my former CD25. I got a new one from them but it was many years ago. They are still in business (now a division of Yamaha I believe). Don't know if they kept the old plans.

Re: cannot access water hose to port water tank
The run from the distribution point near the engine to the sink in the head compartment was quite long. Both tanks feed to the distribution point in the engine compartment and then go to the sinks. Also each water tank has a vent line which goes to the sail lockers and has a loop. It all adds up.

Re: cannot access water hose to port water tank
I just finished replacing the water hoses on my 1983 CD28. The hose went through the port bulkhead separating the cabin from the sail locker. It went under the stove (there is a sliding door to access the area under the stove. It then goes through the half bulkhead between the settee and the galley....

Re: CD 25 Water Supply
Only reason I can see for cutting the hose was that it got nasty inside. I'm changing out all the water lines on my 28 for that very reason. When I had my 25 I always carried a full tank of water to help hold the bow down. It will help. It's like having a large man sitting on the bow, without the wi...
