http://www.cd27spirit.us/images/board/Spirit10.jpg I had the forward hatch powder coated and I replaced the lens with a clear "Green" clear lexan to brighten things up below. Varnished the coamings and dorade box. I left the rubrails natural, no sealers. I have not painted the topside but...

Don't feel bad I did the same thing. I wound up using epoxy thickened with fumed silica. Still holding strong. I imagine 5200 will work just the same. It does take about a week or more to fully cure. After my episode I switched to non-wire exhaust hose. I found the wire reinforced just too hard to t...

For a vertical load I would imagine either screw would do. When you think about it, there are not many fittings on a mast that experience a horizontal pull to the fitting. The fitting is either pulled up, down or at an angle to the mount. There are not many backing plates used on a mast. Other than ...

Thanks Warren

The picture really helped. I was wondering if the kicker would hit the dodger.

I'm now going to make a presentation before my one woman board of directors and see if my purchase gets approved.

Thanks again!

Boomkicker Info Requested

Any CD27 owners using a boomkicker on your boat? What size and your thoughts? Easy to install? Installed pics?

I'm thinking about adding one.

Thanks

Use the fuel pump

On my YSM8 I found the easiest way to bleed the fuel line(s) was manually depressing the fuel pump arm on the top of the pump. Loosen the bleed screw(s) as needed and gently push the pump lever. No need to pump away, a few pushes will pressurize the system. Keep a rag handy to catch the fuel; when t...

Figures. I had the same situation happen to me too. I had the boat all ready and the shipper never showed up. I called him and he couldn't come because someone stole an axle part to his trailer. I suspect movers around this time of year would rather move a larger boat for the money than a 25' sailbo...

Congratulations on your new purchase! We brought our 27CD up from Maryland to Sayville, NY. If you are de-rigging the boat yourself I would recommend removing the shrouds and spreaders and wrapping them up in a moving blanket or other padding to protect your boat. Anything flapping in the wind is go...

I used rubber exhaust hose when I replaced the scupper lines. I tried the non-wire reinforced first but the bend caused the hose to buckle. It was not too easy to install the new hose. Use the old hose to cut the new hose to the correct length. I used baby powder (talc) to help ease the hose over th...

Hacking GPS signals - SCARY STUFF!

I just finished reading this article from BBC News. I would never have imagined this was even possible. This will make you think twice next time its a dark rainy night and your looking for that harbor entrance. The GPS says its right in front of you? Even more reason to brush up on those charting sk...

Approximately 224lbs.

My CD27 has the beast too.

I imagine if one were to unbolt the alternator, starter, and cylinder head, on the boat it would be easily removed by 2 people.

Just in case

OJ - I would have to think Canada and LORAN-C stations elsewhere are very soon to follow ending their transmission. It has been quite a while since i've used LORAN since I sold the unit along with my other boat. But, I imagine the unit would have worked with the Canadian transmission sites. Persona...
