Re: Cape Dory 33 stuffing box

I received my Spartanwrenches todayand they are a welcome addition to my boat. By the way, the shaft size is 1 inch, determined from looking at the owner's manual posted on this site. Very convenient!! Thanks all, and take care.

Re: Cape Dory 33 stuffing box

I am convinced that the Spartan wrenches are the way to go, but I do not know the right size to order. Does anyone know the right size?

Thanks,

Reid

I am sold on the Spartan wrenches. Does anyone know the correct size? I am about 250 miles away from the boat.

Thanks,

Cape Dory 33 stuffing box

Boy do I love my boat, but man, I hate the stuffing box!! Does any 33 owner know of any special tool that was supplied with the boat at first purchase or any other suitable tool and where either may be obtained? I almost had a sinking over the weekend and am desperate to locate an appropriate tool. ...

Re: Repowering a CD33 or CD330

Tom and Jean: I am sorry but do not have any info on that as the repower was done by the prvious owner. You could call Sailcraft Service in Oriental, NC and ask to speak with Alan (owner of the yard where the repower was done). He should be able to tell you all about this. I don't have the telephone...

Re: Repowering a CD33 or CD330

Hi. My CD33 was repowered by a Beta 28. Not sure of the transmission. I am very satisfied with this engine.

Good luck,

Hatch screens CD33

Does anyone have the inner dimensions for the fwd and amidships hatches for a CD33. I want to construct bug screen inserts as one of my winter projects but am 5.5 hrs away from the boat.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Yes, good point, Andy. I had the tank pumped out two days before Irene, closed the inlet water seacock and did not use the head further but somehow now the tank is full. Weird! My only thought is that water must have entered through the holding tank vent at the stern. I will check out Deaton's. Hope...

Oriental NC pumpout

Hi all in Oriental,

My marina, Pecan Grove, does not expect to have holding tank pump out for several weeks. Does anyone know where I can get the holding tank pumped? If so, for what charge?

Thanks,

Grosvenor is on the hurricane response team at Pecan Grove, so I assume but don't know that he authored/shared in that report. Based on a later report we also lost some dock ramps and dock boxes, but that is a small price to pay.

I hope you are well.

Replacement head faucet

My faucet hose is leaking. There seems to be a break/hole in the hose right below the handle fitting. I have looked long and hard for a replacement but can't find one. Does anyone have a lead on this part or a good idea for an alternative arrangement? I am willing to replace the entire faucet assemb...

Heard from Pecan Grove Marina. The water level rose to 4.5 feet above the docks submerging all electrical equipment and shore power pedestals; however, water is rapidly receding and no boats broke loose. I am waiting to hear whether there was any damage to my boat but think I may have dodged the bul...

Good luck, Mitchell and thanks to you and everyone for all the help and advice. May we all find shelter from the storm. There comes a time when we have done all we know to do and have to quit trying which for me is one of the hardest times.

Best,

Reid

Oh Cathy, I am so sorry, I wonder if there is any way to apply a tripple or thicker layer of shrinkwrap? It may not be perfect but could possibly avoid disaster.

Best luck,
