Re: CD28 for sale

The varnish has dried on the cabin sole and I've completed photography. Some are posted below.

Re: CD28 for sale

Fair point! Its on the hard 25 miles north of NYC on the Hudson River in Haverstraw Bay at the moment. Summers on the Hudson a few miles south in Sleepy Hollow, NY. Thanks!

CD28 for sale--0ffer accepted

I've accepted an offer and deposit! After 7 years of fun and work I'm selling my CD28, Kingfisher--1979 hull number 238. Price is $20,000. Well cared for, updated and repaired by myself and those who owned her before me, the boat had stem head redone, Lewmar hatch installed, new marinized Kubota die...

Re: Restored CD28 back in the sea

Are you still sailing your CD28? How have the chainplates performed?

Quick question. What length difference was there, if any, in the shroud lengths with the new external chainplates?

I just ordered bronze from Atlas Metals.

Thanks,
Tom

CD28 bottom job and external chainplates

I'm beginning a bottom project on Kingfisher that will include replacement of cockpit seacocks and thru hulls. The old ones never leaked but were frozen open, presumably for many years. I have the new ones from Spartan. I noticed when I took out the old ones there are no backing blocks in the hull f...

Re: CD28 Main Halyard

Yeah my previous owner liked fat ropes maybe for comfortable handling? The main halyard that got fouled on the winch and had to be cut was 9/16 rope attached to stainless steel wire. I'm surmising he liked that rig because he liked the fat rope part and it was too big for the sheeves. He also had a ...

Re: CD28 Main Halyard

Mine's a '79 CD28 so practically the same boat. Hope you are as happy with yours as I am with mine. Thanks for the RW referral. Looks like a good company and much cheaper than the national competition.

CD28 Main Halyard

My Main halyard needs replacing. Do I have to get the wire and rope hybrid set up that is on my boat now or will a 90' 7/16 double braided rope work as my main halyard replacement? My main halyard leads back to the cockpit with jam cleat and winch on deck system.

Re: Need help solving over heating problem

I had a very similar problem and think I solved it last week. Trying to solve a chronic hot running problem I replaced everything in the raw water system except the hose going from the raw water pump to the heat exchanger. When I finally removed that hose it was clogged with mineral deposits and sma...

I did it all at once. As far as I know epoxy cure is a chemical reaction between resin and hardener as has nothing to do with air.

Re: bowsprit repair for limited rot. Is epoxy the solutiom -

I'm not familiar with 610. I used G-Flex because the guy recommending said it is flexible when cured so its good with wood which has natural flex in it. The strips I used were various from about 1/8" X 1/2" to 1/2" square with lengths cut to fit the gap caused by water intrusion. The ...

Re: bowsprit repair for limited rot. Is epoxy the solutiom -

G-Flex is a West product. I thickened it with teak sawdust so it is dark teak colored. I just cut the strips of teak to fit the gap and saturated them with epoxy before filling in the gap with them in the order I had dry-fitted them. I cut the last piece to fill the gap closely but it wound up being...

Re: backing plates for chainplates

Thanks for the responses. My further research results in my belief that the backing plate may be a long piece of steel that goes under all three chainplates. It also may be attached to steel vertical members, all fiberglassed over into the hull and deck. It may be original and done by Cape Dory when...
