Re: YSM 8 Weirdness
This could be a fuel tank vent problem. Check to see if the vent line is plugged, or, next time you lose power, try opening the tank fill and see if there's a vacuum.

CD27 bow roller
I apologize for not having better pictures, but there a a couple of pictures here that show the setup on my boat. http://cd27.org/exterior.shtml#nogo . All it is is a block of wood that holds the stainless bow roller above the chocks on the port side. It's a little hard to get a line in the port cho...

I went with Raymarine
I've been very happy with the Raymarine instruments.. Here's an old post of mine that explains the choice and how I installed the instruments.

Cape Dory 27 for Sale in Everett, WA
Now that the winter cover is off and the spring haul out is done, Seajay is now officially on the market. All of the details can be found on my website at: [http://www.cd27.org]. I'm also interested in hearing from brokers in the Everett area.

Re: Water tanks and bow thrusters
If anyone's interested, I was working on the shaft coupler and was close enough to read the labeling on the water bag. It holds 23 gallons, which just about doubles the total fresh water capacity of the boat.

Water tanks and bow thrusters
I'm selling my CD27 because I bought a trawler. The first thing I did on the trawler was install a bow thruster. What a difference! Life would have been much easier if I'd had one in the CD27. There were times when the wind was astern (combined with currents in the same direction) that I just couldn...

I switched to red. I had the same problem. It just became to hard to find brown. Especially in an ablative paint. This year I am thinking of using a hard {i.e. racing bottom paint} in green for my boot stripe. Has anyone tried that? Does it work? or am I asking for trouble? Thanks I don't think you...

After five years...
Well, in the five years since I started this post little had changed in they way of coffee brewing on SeaJay. Then a couple of weeks ago I bought this little gem. It's a Fireling Frother. http://www.espressozone.com/images/Product/medium/8717.jpg It's still in the shore-trial stage, but the first re...

Here are some pictures I took from a 10 day trip that finished up last week. There were so many good sunset pictures I put them in a separate sub directory.

wood slides
I was able to buy wood track from Rocker. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=201 I used wood track because I wasn't sure how well metal slides would hold up in a salt-water environment. The track guide seems to be made out of nylon. I don't know what was originally there, but the drawer front u...

Re: Coaming board experience....
...Expect ragged edges around a few holes. New plugs will be needed to re-install the boards. Use varnish/Cetol to "glue" the plugs in place so they will be easier to pull the next time. A much simpler and faster way to remove bungs that avoids this problem is to use an ice-pick. Start sl...

Good Morning Bob I am very displeased with Yanmar's decision to break the US up into districts. Prior to that I always used Torrensen Marine (Diesel Direct) and I think they are in Wisconsin or Illinois or somewhere in that area. Now I MUST use a company called LaBorde (sp) Industries in Louisiana....

Where can I order Yanmar parts?
One of the biggest frustrations I've had with my CD27 is finding an on-line Yanmar parts dealer that can ship to Washington state. Does anyone know of a website where I can purchase parts and have them shipped to my home? When it comes time to replace the YSM, I won't even consider Yanmar because of...

Check the hoses
I had this problem happen when a hose kinked. I had replaced the raw water strainer, so the problem was somewhat self-inflicted. The odd thing was it didn't happen right away.
