Re: YANMAR SERVICE MANUAL MARINE DIESEL ENGINES
Roberto- I've heard from the current caretaker and he's authorized me to add his email address to the registry. He's applied for membership to this forum but is not yet approved so he can't contact you here. If you'll check the registry you'll find his record at row 1284. I note there is no record o...

Re: YANMAR SERVICE MANUAL MARINE DIESEL ENGINES
Hi Roberto-
I know who the current owner is, he'd reached out to me to have his "caretakership" of CD 25D #69 added to the registry. I'll contact him to let him know you're looking for him.
Regards,
Dino

Wanted:CD25D or CD26 or CD27
I'd like to purchase a Cape Dory 25D or Cape Dory 27. Perhaps even a Cape Dory 26, either the diesel or outboard in the well. But not a 25. I live in Oriental NC but will consider boats more or less anywhere along the east coast, depending on condition and price. I prefer a boat in good or better co...

Hi Dean. I maintain the registry that is the Google spreadsheet. If you'll post the year and or hull # for Loda May and any other particulars you'd like included, I'll add her to the registry for you.

Re: Carolina Cape Dory Fleet
Our CD 22 had no damage, just lots of debris, leaves, small branches, etc. Our marina rules require boats to leave when a tropical storm or hurricane warning is issued for our county. I moved Odyssey all the way to the top of nearby Whittaker Creek to a slip offered by a friend. He stayed at home du...

Cape Dory Typhoon for sale, Oriental NC - $600
I don't own the boat or have any interest in it, this is just FYI for Typhoon shoppers. "Belle" is in a slip at Oriental Harbor Marina, has been there for at least a few years. Heard about a month ago from our dockmaster that it was for sale, suggested he tell owner to list it here, doesn'...

Re: On becoming a Geezer Sailor
Carl, I agree with your point about the importance of being able to see where you're going - that kind of trumps most other things. I used to sail a Typhoon that came with a 100 (or less?) and a 130. The 130 was so low I couldn't see around or under it well from either side of the boat. Over time, I...

Re: On becoming a Geezer Sailor
Lot's of posts about easier winching ... Don't know if it is necessarily a geezer thingy or not, and may not be appropriate on larger boats, but on my CD22, I do something that makes winching much easier and more convenient in several ways. This may be a well known thing with a name but if so, I'm c...

Robert[o]- But, but, but ... "remember the Force Luke" ... I mean, remember your tagline Roberto - " ...for I intend to go in harm's way... " Hurricanes are worrisome to be sure, but account for many fewer casualties than wacko sick bay docs. The desire for safety has to be balan...

Re: CD 22 Windsong II
John- Towndock.net is run by an ex NPR person and spouse. It is the finest town website I know of - they do an incredible job. And Oriental is an awesome place to live, but I'm biased. I was out sailing the Neuse the day Wind Song II arrived. I'd seen it when it was just a speck coming off the Pamli...

Re: CD 22 Outboard Size
My 22 had a 6hp Tohatsu Sail Pro when I bought it. It gets the boat to hull speed at only about 1/3rd throttle. I'm no expert on these things, but I'd guess that's not merely enough power - but perhaps too much? Are outboards happier if they run at higher RPMs, at least occasionally? I had a 2hp Hon...

Re: Coiling Line
I more or less use the first method, coiling into figure 8s. If I'm going to stow the line, i finish in the manner he shows where a small loop is passed through the coils then opened and dropped over them with the tail pulled to cinch and secure it all. For sheets I do figure 8s but continue to coil...

Re: CD22 mast height ?
I have a 22 and was told the "air draft" was 33' but can't confirm it. You've got some potentially useful data in above posts. According to sailboat data http://sailboatdata.com/viewrecord.asp?class_id=334 , the "I" dimension for a CD22 is 28'. That's top of mainsail to deck heig...

NOAA has a good guide to identifying sharks by their dorsal fin at http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/ia/species/sha ... _guide.pdf.
