Eva Dry Dehumidifier Experience?

I am looking to place a dehumidifier in my CD27 this winter. I do not have shore power at my slip so I was considering the kitty-litter option. I came across the Eva Dry 500 product on the internet: http://evadry.reachlocal.net/products.html I like the idea it is reusable and does not require power....

The tri-ducer replaced the existing paddle wheel speed unit that was located in the floor area of the hanging locker. I replaced the plastic housing with the new bronze thru hull fitting. The tri-ducer comes with a plug so it can be removed from the inside of the boat when the boat is afloat. My boa...

I recently installed the Raymarine bi-data 40 digital read-out display unit on my bulkead and their Depth/Speed/Temp Transducer DST800P-A with their bronze thru-hull fitting. I liked that I only used one hull penetration for all three functions and it turns out this transducer has a wider dead hull ...

Wire Gauge

G'day, The Raymarine website indicates your ST2000 draws 1.5 amps in full auto mode. If you take this figure and plug it into the following calculator: http://beta.circuitwizard.bluesea.com/ using 12 volts, 36 feet of wire (18 x2) using a 3% voltage drop and 105 degree insulation you need at least 1...

Broken Step, Ouch!!!

Just completed my first week long, single handed cruise on the Vicky Lee (see trip info on Cruiser's Corner) The only issue that came up was the top step/engine cover broke/cracked in half as I was going below during the trip. Luckily I caught myself as I slid down the steps on my backside. A little...

Maiden Cruise

Just completed my first single handed, week long cruise on the Vicky Lee that I obtained in December, rebuilt over the winter and relaunched three weeks ago. The trip started from Port Townsend over to Fishermans' Bay on Lopez Island, over to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, over to Parks Bay on Sh...

I eliminated and patched my thru deck wiring penetrations and used the same 3/4" liquidtight conduit as Rhapsody has thru the mast and the dorade box on the horizontal plane. I placed my coax and wiring service loops and connectors inside the dorade box. This is a very clean installation allowi...

Machine

Me thinks a properly tapped machine screw holds better than a self tapper. Also the finer threaded machine screws hold better than the coarser version. for example a #10-32 is better than a #10-24. Always use tefgel or equivalent when placing s/s into aluminum.

Duncan,

I chose the Fynspray model WS-60B. I went with the Amsteel lifelines over wire because I can splice them myself. I will try to find another site to post pictures through. How do folks get their photos within their posting?

Steve,
Yes, I removed the lense and gasket. Powder coating requires baking in an oven so no plastic can be left. I replaced the lense and gasket with new along with replacing the hinge pins with machine screws.

Russel, Powder Coating the hatch involved removing the hatch from the boat, taking it completely a part and then sending it to the Powder Coater. I used: http://www.kitsappowdercoating.com/index.htm They do a lot of work for the Navy and Coast Guard and apply a special marine primer coat before the ...

Though I would share my progress so far. Since placing the CD27 I purchased in December next to my shop work is nearing an end and relaunch is scheduled for the end of April. I had the mast, boom and the Bomar hatch powder coated. Replaced lexan in hatch and placed new seals in all port lights. Repl...

I just removed my eyebrows along with other items on the coach roof, chamfered and filled the holes with marinetex and then recovered all my non-skid with Kiwi Magic. I'm very happy with the results. The final coat of awlgrip gets sprayed on the topside today. The bottom has dried out nicely since r...
