Re: 12v Refrigeration Input Sought
I'm sure Rich can tell you exact measurements of the cold plate. Measurements I gave you were all estimates. Good luck

Re: 12v Refrigeration Input Sought
John, I just glanced at the cruiser's forum link you sent. Cool Blue is supported by Technautics and Rich Boren, a contributer to the thread(fellow criuser I believe) is the man I spoke with on technical issues. Very informative 24/7, I'll vouch for that and he'll answer the phone! something I place...

Re: 12v Refrigeration Input Sought
John, Cool Blue refrigeration is a 12v cold plate unit. FAYAWAY is a 1982 CD30 cutter that's an original boat with the original ice box. I don't know how many cubic ft of space is in it. I mounted the compressor in the storage area just above and behind the box. It just barely fits in there and allo...

Re: 12v Refrigeration Input Sought
John, I haven't seen any mention on this thread of the cold plate,12v refrigeration system that I've been using for the past 10-12 years or so called Cool Blue Refrigeration. I really can't comment on the amp/watt usage as I'm clueless with that kind of stuff but I will say it's pretty damn efficien...

Re: Is my Diesel Mechanic brilliant or a fool?
I just finished reading the Cruisers Forum regarding the MD7s, although it's almost 8-9 years old there's alot of good information there. Thank you JD-MDR. I really like those little motors and enjoy reading information about them as well. As for the old motor I replaced (that's down in the garage) ...

Re: Is my Diesel Mechanic brilliant or a fool?
Every thing Ghockaday commented is spot on. I own a 1982 CD30 with the raw water cooled Volvo MD7 in it. When I bought the boat in 1996 I had no idea of how many hours were on it. It started and ran ok. Fast forward 5-6 years. I started to see an accumulation of soot on the stern and the starting be...

Re: Leaking fuel pump 1983 CD 28
Hi Adam, I believe Volvo used 2 different high pressure pumps for the MD7s. More than likely determined by the year of manufacture. Volvo made a MD7A and an MD7B which may also have been the determining factor as to which pump was used. I have some experience with these motors due to the fact that I...

Re: Minor sailwork needed…recommended lofts in New England
I've used and highly recommend Farrar Sails in New London, Ct.. Kevin has repaired my jibs/drifter and also made me a complete set (roller furled Yankee, Staysail, Main with sail covers ) in 2017 for my beloved 1982 CD30 FAYAWAY. I couldn't be happier with anything he's done. (860)447-0382 is the on...

Re: Volvo Penta MD7A
I've been using straight 30wt. Shell Rotella diesel many years in my MD7B and as Steve said the gear box. I also use this in the Walters V-drive as well. Very good diesel oil.

Re: CNG Tank Supplier / Refil
Joe, I believe they get the tanks refilled out of somewhere in Providence, RI. Should you make the trip this year FAYAWAY is in the next marina down the river less than 1/4 of a mile from Frank Halls. Lotteryville Marina. The only sailboat in the place, at the end of the dock. Feel free to stop by i...

Re: CNG Tank Supplier / Refil
Joe, I have used compressed natural gas for my stove top burners, oven, and on demand hot water heater for as long as I've owned CD 30 FAYAWAY. I bought her that way more than 20 years ago now come to think of it. I actually just replaced or should say exchanged my empty tank for a full one last wee...

Very nice job with the dodger. I'll be buying a replacement soon myself.

Re: Fayaway winter projects: chainplates, dodger and more
This is the first time I've heard of another Capedory named FAYAWAY. That is the name of my 1982 CD30. Best of luck on all of your projects.

Re: Re-powering CD30C with Yanmar or Volvo
Be sure to check the seals in the water pump of the MD7. My original MD7 1980 had water in the oil and that was the cause of it. My completely rebuilt MD 7 had the same problem. A rebuild kit includes the shaft, Two bearings and two seals. Yes they can still be bought. McDonnell Marine in Bloomfield...
