I had a good time working with John making the internal SS "box", but no doubt the external plate is the simpler, smarter solution. Looks good, too.

My 1976 CD28 was a victim of the same design flaw, starting to show strain on the aft deck. Here's my experience: #1 removing the old material wasn't that bad....I stuffed old drop cloths on either side to contain the mess. The "secret weapon" after trying various grinding wheels, wire bru...

Thanks for the tip. I plan to order some. A slight variant is the need for a waterproof material for less standardized information such as fuse panel diagrams, maintenance information, etc. I stumbled on an excellent product recently: Xerox "Never Tear" paper. It's actually a plastic mater...

I called Boat Zincs (Boatzincs.com) today to see if I was getting more senile and had overlooked their site. They have the larger Camp acorn, zpc-3, but not the smaller zpc-1, which seems to be more rare.

I just received a couple season's supply of acorn zincs for my 3/4" shaft: Camp ZPC-1 @ $8.03 each from Marineparts.com

Like others, I'd had trouble finding this size in stock, so I hope this helps.

CD 28 and Outboard Motors

I recently mounted an outboard on my CD 28 as a spare engine. We've used our recently acquired CD28 more as a powered cruiser than a sailer, going down the ICW, with future plans for cruising the St Johns River, then down the ICW and across Florida via the canal, etc. Even our nearly new Yanmar 3YM3...
