I suggest this thread: http://capedory.org/board/viewtopic.php ... l+windlass
I followed John Danicic's example on our 36 - very pleased with the results.

Re: Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) and Oil Consumption
We installed it 3 years ago and like it. Bought it from Foley for about $400. Easy to install. Noticeable reduction in oil consumption.

Re: Prop Shaft Rebuild CD 36
We did this project 2 years ago. It involved removing the shaft log with the rear half of the hose still attached. This meant removing enough material around the shaft log (perhaps 1/16") to allow for the greater OD of the hose to be pulled back through the opening. In preparation for reattachi...

Re: Pressure water plumbing
Last year I replaced the hot water heater and in the process installed PEX lines in a portion of the pressure water system. I first tried to use use the Sharkbite fitting and found them unforgiving, not reusable and physically hard to install in limited spaces. I turned to the Sea Tech fittings (a W...

Hull number
Barbara:
You did indeed find Monarch.
The starboard quarter berth is the same - and the deck wash pump is a great addition for Maine cruising. There is lot of mud to deal with when anchoring.
Best regards.

Monarch - renamed Islander
Barbara: We are the current owners of Islander - renamed from Monarch when the boat was sold. The new home port then was Charleston, SC. We bought her there in the fall of 2009 and had her moved to our home base - Newington, NH (the Portsmouth, NH area). For the last two summers we have cruised the ...

Clean diesel fuel thank
Our CD36 had both a very dirty tank and dirty fuel when we bought it. We used Star-Tron Diesel Tank cleaner with very good results. We added the cleaner to the tank (with the dirty fuel) and let it set for a couple of days. We then used a fuel cycling or polishing setup (borrowed from our boat yard)...

Edson Steering Pedestal Removal
There are products that will soften 5200 so that some leverage alone will allow removal. I have used "Anti-Bond" - I assume there are other products also.

Radar suggestions
We installed a new radar last year. I used panbo.com as my primary source of testing and review information - and continue to find it very helpful. We bought the Lowrance HDS-8 and BD24 and like them very much. If you do go to panbo.com, search on Lowrance and note the release of the "3G" ...

Broadband radar
We installed the Lowrance HDS-8 and BR24 last summer. It is our first radar and is used on the coast of Maine. I used and suggest the web site: panbo.com for research. Search on Lowrance radar and you will find extensive testing starting in the summer of 2009. We give the radar 5 stars. Have not exp...

Riverside Marine Transport, Inc
We used this owner/operator last August to move our CD36 from Charleston, SC to NH. The owner (Wayne Harris) was everything one could wish for - and the cheapest I could find. His web site: www.largeboathaulers.com Email: riversidemarinetransport@davincivirtual.com Location: Bradenton, FL Phone: 941...

Evergreen/Rocna
I'd appreciate the following information. We have a new to us 36 and need to decide on the primary anchor. What size Rocna are you using? What is your bow roller configuration (mfg)? Can a Spartan bow roller be used? What is the setup for securing the shank while underway? Thanks for your response.
