Project Cape Dory Typhoon and trailer

Project Typhoon and trailer available in Gulf Shores, AL. This is my second typhoon restoration project and I just don't have time to finish it right now. The boat comes with almost all of the hardware, mast, boom, sails and wood trim. Missing tiller, one winch (I think). Bottom has been peeled, fai...

Typhoon Trailer 4-sale

I have a galvanized double-axle trailer that I have used as a yard trailer for my Typhoon. Built a wooden cradle, which is fine for hauling the boat up the hill and down the street to my home but not really highway-safe (with boat on it). Tires in ok shape, good lights. Could use bearings greased I ...

Fantastic!....congratulations and best wishes. Hey, do you ever watch Ace of Cakes on the Food Network? It looks like the kind of cake those guys would have made. Cathy CD32 Realization, #3 Rahway, NJ Raritan Bay Yes, we do! Great show! My wife did both of our cakes, as a matter of fact. She has a ...

Cape Dory in wedding

Hey guys, Since we didn't get married on the water and leave in the Typhoon, we decided to have our Cape Dory done in my groom's cake. Thought y'all might get a kick out of this. Had everything right down to the logo on the mainsail. It was completely edible, too. http://s423.photobucket.com/albums/...

THAT IS HILARIOUS!!!!!!!! I guess that is punishment for owning a cat. I had one, and then acquired a German Shepherd and a girlfriend about the same time, also with a cat. Let's just say that I still have the dog, but had to bury two cats and have an unpleasant chat with the girlfriend.

Thanks to all. I was pulling up to the pier, having been out sailing in 5-15 kt breeze. I did bump in some soft sand as I was coming to the pier. I decided to drop sails so I did a 180 head to wind. All of a sudden I lost steerage. I jumped into the cabin and grabbed some pliers, thinking that bolt ...

Lost rudder on my Typhoon!

Oh man- I was sailing up to a pier to pick up my fiance yesterday and all of a sudden lost steerage. Yep, no rudder. I jumped in to dive for it but haven't found it. I felt where the rudder should be, thinking that perhaps the glass just delaminated and there'd be metal fingers left, but there's not...

O.K. now I need that son of yours! Last night I probably would have paid whatever to get access to him! What a nightmare, and I have the knuckles to prove it. I now assume that Cape Dory never had any intention of their owners needing to get back there. Thanks- we are very excited about getting her ...

Progress Report

Here's a few pics we took last night- hoped to have had her in the water over the wknd but it looks like it will be mid-week- we have been working on her every night since we got her two weeks ago. I cut into the poop deck to gain access to the backstay thru-bolts and found delam, of course. Not sur...

Now that's something I need to do some research on how to fix. I have some soft spots on my foredeck and I have noticed some compression on my cabin top as well. The plan is to get the boat sailable for now and do the glass work this winter sometime. I am getting married in November and Carrie and I...

Weekender's new Weekender

Well, We finally got our Typhoon back to the house to start getting her ready to sail again. We picked her up Sunday from a gentleman's pier on a small, windey (not as in wind) river that leads to Mobile Bay. It is almost impossible to sail all the way down the river unless you have big breeze. The ...
