Re: CD 27 Engine Replacement
I have the Westerbeke 13, asked the mechanic at Marine Engines Unlimited in Galesville if he thought I'd need to replace my engine eventually (By the way, this is a small business that is incredibly honest and reasonable). He told me that the engine was in excellent shape and wouldn't need replaceme...

Re: ShipShape Canvas winter cover for 330
I bought a cover for CD 27 4 years go and have been ver happy with it. Great company to work with and the cover really helps in the winter. There's a you tube video that gives step-by-step instructions, which I need even after putting it on several times! On another note. The first year I had it the...

Re: Replaing Seacock Backing Plates
Restarting this thread. I had been monitoring water in the bilge of my boat very closely since we've had so much rain the past few weeks, well the entire summer. I felt pretty smug because the bilge had been pretty dry, I keep a turkey baster on the boat just get all the water out of the bilge. Was ...

Re: Genoa size for Chesapeake sailing - CD27
Chris I added roller furling and a new jib 3 years ago. Using advice from this forum and concurrence from the sailmaker, I went with 130. I'm happy I did. I single hand most of the time and have learned to be conservative. I doubt I'd have ever used all of the 150. BTW, I dealt with Bacon sails in A...

Re: Hurricane Florence
First, John, best of luck! Looks like you've done everything possible and done it well (like always). I'm going over to my boat first thing in the morning and going to go ahead and ask the yard to haul her. They do a good job, they do not have tie downs but do chain the jack stands together. Thanks ...

Re: Hurricane Florence
My boat is in Galesville MD, just south of Annapolis. If the current track holds we are not in danger of getting the full force of the storm but I'm concerned about the surge. I'm considering having my boat hauled. I think that Boat US will reimburse 50% of the cost. Any thoughts? I'm planning on go...

Re: Chesapeake to Scituate
Thanks, you added some important information, especially as to time required. I'm retired so don't have to meet a schedule, so I'd allow 2 weeks each way. Agree that getting offshore is wise, but coming back LI Sound makes sense, what with the Unfavorable wind. On another forum, someone posted that ...

Re: "Leoma" update 8/12/18
This post prompts a general question about travelers. My CD 27' still has the original track and adjustable stops. Is it possible to just add an adjustable traveler on the existing track? I recall the post by Bill, in Oklahoma, that redid his system and he replaced everything, from Gerhauer I think.

Re: Replacement LED running lights
Jim,
I've been thinking about replacing my nave lights with LEDS, it sounds like you bought one of the Hella lights and took out the insides and installed into existing housing. Is that correct?

Chesapeake to Scituate
My daughter-in-law is from Scituate. She, my son, and grandson were over today for July4. While here she face timed her Mom who was boating with friends up there in Scituate. Afterwards we were talking and my daughter-in-law suggested I take my boat up there next year for the 4th. Sounds like a grea...

Re: Tube For Mast Wiring
I have the same set up in my new mast. Make sure you bring the wires down past the tube, form a drip loop, then back up, and then down the tube. That way water won’t run right down the wires and into the tube like a funnel. Please forgive me but I'm having trouble visualizing how to do this and how...

Re: Broken engine control panel box
Well, my control panel is disintegrating, attempting to attach pictures, also adding what the wiring looks like.
I really like Russel's solution, although my woodworking skills can't match.
anyone have any suggestions as to how to protect the panel until the end of the season?
