I just looked up the refinishing book and it sells for somewhere between $50 + up to $300 +/-!
If anyone wants to sell a used copy (at a reasonable price) let me know.

Re: CD 27 Engine Replacement
Hey Andy,
Good to hear from you.
I'd consider repowering with a Beta for the very same reasons you mentioned. The Westy works great and is reliable, but like you said servicing it is tough. I often just have Mrine Engines unlimited do it.

Re: Fall bottom prep
i like these solutions. Curious as to vacuum hook up arrangement. After searching the web I found one post where a guy used sump pump hose. In Jims photo it seems you have two different size hoses, is that right?
I am determined to prep my bottom ( boat's bottom) this fall.

Amazing Speed
Two weeks ago, I was out at the mouth of the West River, in the Chesapeake. Had two guys along with me, one an experienced sailor the other guy fairly new to sailing. I had installed a chart plotter last year. Since I'm familiar with the water around that area I don't watch it constantly. Anyway, we...

CD 27
Saw this lovely CD 27 on a for sale site, just thought I'd add since it's what I'm striving for but have a long way to go. (Hope the link works!)

Re: Buck Algonquin Bronze Ball Valve Seacocks
There is an Apollo Conbraco ball valve in my boat. It is for the direct discharge of the head. Since I haven't sailed far enough offshore to be able to use it, I haven't paid it much attention, save to work it back and forth occasionally. I decided this year to see about lubricating it so sent a que...

Re: Rub Rail Project
Thanks John and Walter,
That's the info I needed. I didn't think to look through the owners manual, duh, obvious first step! I've come to rely on this board, maybe a bit too much.
Thanks again.

Re: Rub Rail Project
was at my boat today getting ready to refinish the rubrails with Cetol gloss. I had taken off all the brass pieces and filled eahc screw hole with a teak bung. BTW, as suggested by John a year or so ago! However, I noticed that the very front of the starboard side has the tip worn/broken off. In the...

Re: Boat still on the hard!
I'm in the same situation as all of you. I'm on the hard in Edgewater, MD. Talked with marina staff and has tentatively scheduled launch for April. I think it would be prudent to reconsider that. I have a doctor buddy that reminded me that my advanced age, 76, with some medical history, that I'm in ...

Re: A Pleasant Distraction During Coronavirus
Well, since I have spent quite a few hours binging on YouTube videos of various people sailing, no reason not to pursue another one! I did find one that intrigued me on YouTube, especially since I have a CD 27. There's a thread about a guy with and Alvin Vega 27. He's doing what I've dreamt of. Howe...

Excellent, thanks John.
I reread my post and noticed all the typos, it's a wonder anyone could figure out what I was trying to say!

Re: Filling holes in teak
This is just the informaiton I need. I mentioned in another thread a year or so ago the need to repair the drill holes for my bronze rubrail. I'm going to remove the the bronze rail and drill out the holes using a countersink bit, as John described above. I've done this before on another boat when a...

Re: Cockpit headroom under boom
Looking for information that will help me decide on a vessel suitable for my needs. I am looking at CD 28 and 30 as a liveaboard i like the minimalist aspect of a smaller vessel but need to be comfortable at the same time. I would like to be able to stand under the boom safely while underway. Im 5’...
