Lying a hull and heaving too are two different animals. I have hove too a couple of times in 25 knott winds and was able to take napes in the cock pit. On the other hand, recently I tried to drop sail to get some sleep and wound up having to raise the main and heave too in order to get the boat to s...

Fred, keep in mind that oil seals are actually lubricated by the oil. With a double seal the external seal is most likely run dry so that could be a problem. A friend told me he had a boat that had a zert on the stuffing box and he just pumped grease in it and it did not leak. What do you know about...

I too am building solar panel mounts. My boat is 1400 miles away from me so what I did is make a rack out of aluminum pipe. If all goes well it should be somewhat adjustable and fit several boats. It will also allow for the panels to rotate to follow the sun. Next week I will pick the boat up in Dem...

I bought secondhand Harken end blocks, did a little filing to them to get them to fit the tracks. For the car I found some sheeves that fit the existing car using longer bolts. The only problem I am having is that I need to put a thin plate between the sheeves to keep the line from tangling when I mo...
