Re: Using Mac computer on board ??
Mac uses a 14.5 vdc supply. Wattage varies depending on model, e.g., the MacBook and 13in. MacBook pro use a 60 watt supply. My MacBook Air is 45w. The 17in MacBook Pro uses an 85 watt supply. When looking for a DC-to-DC converter a few years ago, nothing was available except the Airplane-only unit....

Re: 4 Stroke for a CD25
In the fall the original evinrude on Cassandra, CD25, conked out. I replaced it with a Tohatsu Sail Pro. It's light. It's reasonably easy to fit in and out of the well. It's a long shaft with an alternator. I did not add remote steering and throttle, as it was a bit too pricey for me. Two mounting p...

Re: On Sale: 12VDC Waterproof Wireless Remote Control with 2
Remotely apply power to any DC device. Something like a garage door remote except for any dc appliance. Works directly on up to 5 amps, and more with a solenoid. Remote a windlass maybe.nessie wrote:Ditto what Steve said

Re: Marine Head for CD25?
Check out Stan Freihofer's S/V Pearl and her restoration at http://www.reefroof.com. Stan installed a fixed head in his CD25.
All the best.

Re: depth finder location
Hi, There is access along the water line going aft to the sink. On Cassandra, also a CD25, one previous owner cut a hole beneath the head to access the hull. He then epoxied the standard oil-filled wooden box to the hull with the transducer installed through the top of the box. I replaced the sounde...

4th
Interesting how many 4th owners there are.
I am the 4th owner of Cassandra. And I'm on my 4th year with her. The second owner sold when he felt his age interfering, the third moved overseas, and couldn't find a slip available on Lake Geneva.
Happy Hannukkah and Merry Christmas to y'all.

The lever forces on the partly lowered mast will overpower you and the bottom will kick out as you drop it. Fortunately, the CD25 has a hinged plate, so the bottom will only kick out if the hinge breaks or the screws break that hold the foot on the mast, which is what happened to one gentleman on t...

With the 1/2/BOTH switch, isn't there a potential problem IF the engine is running and the switch is moved through OFF to the other side to charge the other bank? It seems that the ON/OFF/Combine switch prevents THAT possibility, while LIMITING it's usefulness in other situations, as has been pointe...

Battery Tender or Battery Minder
There are chargers designed for battery banks, such as we use. Battery Tender has a unit that will work on AGM and wet cell. I think there is also a Battery Minder unit for two wet cell batteries, that is cheaper than the bigger Battery Tender unit. Amazon has some units, if you buy from Amazon. Mar...

Coffee?
In the army, we used coffee for this sort of thing. 'Course YOU probably don't make your coffee like the army does.

Re: Headsail slides
Has anyone put slides/slugs on a furling headsail? Just a thought. I had that thought for a moment, thinking to make a rope with slugs attached that would fit the furler. But I figured the make-shift jib would have a lot higher psi pulling on the slot than with a more continuous pull of a rope luff...
