Re: Don’t get caught with an anchor that’s not stylish.
Anyone here have a special, stylish, anchoring outfit? I mean, you can't wear just anything when you enter an anchorage, and especially if you have a stylish anchor. How about this: https://cdnc.lystit.com/photos/36c0-2015/05/15/asos-navy-slim-fit-trousers-with-anchor-design-blue-product-1-85166945...

Re: Powering the CD25
The problem with my Tohatsu is that it starts off at a nice idle, but, after five minutes or so, doubles the rpm to a speed that can't be right. I feel that adjusting the idle isn't the answer, but I may be wrong. I am going to speak to a Tohatsu mechanic tomorrow. Perhaps he will know what is goin...

Re: Powering the CD25
6 hp is plenty for a CD25. What you do not want is a heavy motor that will make your boat squat. Why? Because a squatting boat is SLOW!!. On a CD 25 the cabin floor is parallel with the bottom of the keel. Set your bubble accordingly. Hope this helps. Dick Dick, I agree with you on the 6HP, and hav...

Re: CD 25 Lazarette Cover
If it’s neither a thing of beauty nor brings you joy nor serves a purpose, and you are up for the work, absolutely change it. Why have something on your boat that you don’t enjoy looking at? It’s not a difficult project. It’s not expensive to make one you like. You are not harming the boat. You wil...

When I put in the tohatsu sailpro, it really needs the hatch to be raised--just like in the photos. Trade?

Re: 1974 Cape Dory 25 - outboard well removed????
I'm very confused. My former CD25 never experienced anything close to what that article refers to. I sailed with a family of five in following seas, in current, and heavy boat wakes from the stern. We would get splash, but never once had "floating gas cans". Maybe the old Greenwich 24 had...

Re: Solar battery charger for my CD25,
In the FWIW department: I wouldn't hesitate to use a roll-up panel with gator clips, rolled and stowed during sails. Cheap and easy. For me, though: The 5 watt panel on the engine cover worked well from the time it was originally installed--probably in the late 1980s--until recently. It was hardwire...

Re: Radio connection at top of mast
Metal to metal contact... yes. Your coax may be good, and you may be able to reuse the UHF male connector. As for the antenna, probably not, if the inside surfaces are toast. I can't tell from the pic, but is that the antenna mount that the antenna is screwed into? If the antenna can be unscrewed, i...

Re: Considering buying a CD25 - questions on rigging and tra
Here's my take on trailering. Expect Gross Tow weight to exceed 5,000 pounds. While a Class III hitch will handle up to 8,000 lbs, sufficient for a loaded CD 25 and trailer, many pickups are not rated high enough. For instance, my Honda Ridgeline is rated at 5,000 only. It's a similar size of a &quo...

Re: Lake Norman, North Carolina
Well, Roberto, you can join the other halfbacks (folks who've gone to Florida, then headed back north) and come to Georgia. Lake Lanier is probably smaller than Lakes Norman or Murray, but doesn't ice over. The weather. . . warm summers and cool winters. Cassandra doesn't sport a bimini, but it make...

Re: Lithium battery for cd25 day sailer?
Has anyone tried one of these? They are getting cheap, small and plentiful. My lead-acid is due for replacement and I'm considering something easier to haul on/off the boat. Mine only powers radio, instruments and rarely the LED running and cabin lights. The current battery is topped off by the Toh...
