Re: it works fine in 15-20 knots
the boat has a very large main. There are used sail traders on the net that have sails that will fit your boat. (I had a 25) You need a 150 for 6 to 12 knots of wind. The boat really responds to a symmetrical spinnaker. Get a drifter for light winds if you don't want to buy the spinnaker set up. mo...

You likely have a working jib (100%?). It is a good sail to have when the wind picks up, but for lighter winds you will likely want a larger genoa. I have a 145% and it works great in my opinion. I know some people have bigger and others small genoas, you will likely get varing opinions on the optim...

Evinrude 9.9
Kilgore,
Why the desire to get rid of the evinrude? I have a ealry 80's vintage evinrude 9.9 and it does a good job pushing Sostenuto in most all conditions I go out in. I guess my thought if it is in good order, use the 9.9 and see what other surprise cost pop up.

I guessing that your 26 has the outboard in the well much like my CD25. Backing up is nothing short of difficult with these boats if the outboard is unable to be rotated in the well. This seems to be because the prop sits higher than the upper edge of the rudder and there is no water flow from the p...

I would recommend checking out West System for information on the fairing and fixing of the hull. They have a nice little guide for fiberglass boat repair and restoration. I have used their products on the restoration of a wooden wayfarer a couple years ago. I found Wests products easy to use and ga...

Another in the mix
I have ordered supplies from Jamestown Distributors and have been happy with service and cost. I thought that they cater more toward boat builders but with my last order I received their "big book" of over 1000 pages of marine and woodworking supplies. Prices for some items are better than...

Because I have a porta pottie, only women are allowed to use the comode for number one. Men are restricted to a bucket or over the rail. Gatorade bottles serve males well in this capacity, especially if you are on station at the helm and can't leave your post. You can recap it and deal with it late...

trimming sheets
In my 25 I have found playing with the trim of both the jib and main sheets helps. Prior to heading up I will sheet in the jib or genoa hard, and come about leaving the jib sheet cleated. Once the main comes over I ease it slightly, it seems to me that how much I ease the main depends on if I have t...

I have an old evinrude 9.9 2 cycle that is left in. Prior owner had used antifouling in past but I didn't use anything last spring, mid season a quick scrub took care of the little growth and was fine until pull out this fall. I am in freshwater. I am however planning to use antifouling next spring ...

Welcome
Congrats on the "new" boat!! I just finished my first season on my 25 and can tell you it is a fantastic boat! It handles easily under sail is fairly easy get used to, and not very intimidating for the beginner. This board is a great resource and members very friendly.

It can be done
I just hauled my 25 yesterday and was relatively painless. The key is being able to get the trailer deep enough to float the boat on. When I bought my boat the trailer was a yard trailer, not designed to be launched from. I has an extendable tongue and a winch stand put on the trailer and it worked ...
