Oh, yeah, forgot to mention I'm in my land cruiser in AZ. Renee's in CA and has my check book. Too much information at Christmas? Bottom liner: no checks to pay the old fashioned way. And one last thing- Diapensia is stored inside this safe from the harsh Maine winter snow and wind and rain and ice....

RadarCable
A tale of woe I hope to turn into an opportunity: Decommissioning Diapensia last week, the plug to my radar, which is located above the nav station, jammed in the bilge as I was threading it forward to the base of the mast. As the mast was already lifted and supported by the electric hoist- and the ...

Russell is right
The license for the station- the boat- does not transfer. In addition, you need to apply for an operator's license, and there is a test to pass.

Exumas
Diapensia got off its butt at the end of March with an addition of an AirBreeze wind generator after being impressed with the consistency of the wind at Boot Key. We sailed past Sombrero Reef at 1300 and into the Stream landing at South Riding Rock at 0900, a 19 hour transit to the banks. We took ai...

Marathon in the Middle Keys
In the Boot Key Harbor at Marathon, Diapensia rides comfortably on the hook as the East coast bends to the snowy wind. All kinds of circumstance lead one to wait for the proper moment to weigh anchor. So, Diapensia remains stateside but making new friends and enjoying the camraderie and amenities of...

Perkins Heeling
Thanks Stan. The Perkins manual, p. 64 lists 25 degrees port and starboard. The manual states these angles of heel are ok "providing the boat is righted occasionally so that the valve gear can be lubricated." I was concerned as we beat down the Hawk Channel to Marathon Tuesday. Jimmy

Not Bothered
Heading into Biscayne Bay, Tuesday I think it was, we saw a fine crowd of gentlemen in a CD 25. They didn't seem to be at all bothered, in fact, they said we were looking pretty good. And, remarkably, within a few minutes, a 30- I'm guessing- sailed by. No problems there, either. Just great big smil...
