Sailkote

Sailkote is a dry lubricant and, as mentioned, is extremely effective for lubricating a sail slot in a mast, and for other purposes as well. I believe the manufacturer recommends it for lubricating the sail itself, to decrease the wind resistance and increase speed. I don't know anything about its e...

mainsail slides

Sailkote really works well. You can get it at your marine store, it comes in a spray can, costs about $10 and you spray it in the sail track up as far as you can reach. I had the same problem you have and now raising the mainsail is very easy.

The fumes problem was corrected by the previous owner who ran a p...

There's canned spray paint specially made for outboard lower units. I've used it for 2 years and it works better, if anything, than ordinary bottom paint. Not very expensive (around $9), easy to apply, and one can should last you two or three years. You can get it at a marine supply store. Comes in ...

Cleaning scuff marks off the hull

I thought I'd pass along that at my wife's recommendation I used Soft-Scrub (sp?) with Clorox and the least abrasive Scotchbrite pad to clean scuff marks, red paint, blue paint, bottom paint and maybe creosote off the hull this morning and it worked like magic. The creosote took the longest to remov...
