I’ve had this hinged Groco strainer for several years. No problems with it whatsoever.

Re: Propane Stove CD30

Hey Jeff… This is the latest version of the rail mount propane tank bracket I have. https://www.suremarineservice.com/Galley/Propane-Railmount-Bracket-Assembly/001-749A.html It’s a fine bracket and has served for many years. At our last winter meeting free raffle I scored a slightly larger tank so I...

Re: Leoma. Salon Sole

That looks great, came out really well. I need to give my cabin sole a light sand and a couple coats of varnish. Thought I might get it done after the boat was hauled but it was last on my list and it’s too cold now. It’ll be an easy job in the spring Leoma must be very happy. You’re taking very goo...

Re: Orion sailing under asymmetric spinnaker

The I is 41, the P is 35, and the J is 13.5 with total of 724 square feet of sail area. Those dimensions are rig dimensions of course so I don’t know the luff, leach, and foot dimensions of the sail itself. I just checked the specifications on the Doyle invoice. I presumed it was accurate. IMG_0437...

If your driveshaft is 1” it’s size “C”. Just search under “prop nut sacrificial anode” at your marine supplier website of choice.

Re: Oxidation on Seacock

It’s just naturally occurring verdigris which will form upon exposure to air or seawater. You may want to check your hose for a slight leak or it may just be condensation forming and following the hose down to the seacock. I see no issue to be concerned about in this photo. If verdigris is good enou...

Orion tucked away for the winter

Orion was hauled on 10/16 and the first thing I did was rinse the hull from the toerail to the waterline with hull cleaner. This ensures the surface will be clean for a coat of wax in the spring. Next I spent five days sanding the bottom (with the aim of removing this seasons coat of antifouling so ...

Re: repowering cd 28

Fred Mueller, our esteemed potentate extraordinaire, has an immaculate CD27 “Jerezana” which he has repowered with a Beta 14. You can do a search to see what he has posted here or PM Fred for further details. The 1,500 pound difference in displacement between the CD27 and CD28 may be a deciding fact...
