Hey Matt;

Well, it worked for me. I'm glad it worked for you too. That's what this board is all about, right?

Thanks Dick. I feel like a doofus for not checking there first. I appreciate your kindness.

AHA! I should've thought to check the manual. I didn't realize it has such details. :oops:

Thanks Bill. I can see clearly now....

Toe Rail & Rub Rail Question

In the restoration of my CD25, I am replacing toe rails and rub rails. Unfortunately, I didn't take specific notice of the installation when I dissembled it. I've been dissecting photographs but am unable to discern the detail. I assume that there is an overlap between the rub rail and the toe rail,...

Portlight Gasket Circumference

FYI

The portlight gaskets each require 34 1/2 inches in length of gasket cord, so depending on how many portlights you have, do the math and add a little for waste or spares.

Drilling holes in deck

To each his own, but here I side with Don Casey and Steve Laume. The bent nail technique has worked well for me, and like Steve, I grind the tip of the nail to a chisel edge. You need a firm grip because the drill will jump around until the wood core has been excavated. It will leave rough surfaces ...

Glass Haze

I had this problem on the glass. Nothing would take it off. I tried window cleaner, bathroom cleaner, stovetop scrub, oven cleaner....etc. I never found a chemical solution that worked. I did finally get rid of the haze, by using (of all things) Mother's Metal Polish from Walmart, and a buffing whee...

I'm wondering if there is a power prop available for that 4 hp engine. Most outboards come equipped with a speed prop, which isn't optimal for a displacement hull. A power prop has a larger diameter, but a smaller pitch. The 8 hp Yamaha that came with my boat had a speed prop, and I have changed it ...

Good work, vast improvement, and a new lease on life. My "gotta-ask" question is: What finish did you use on the wood? And just curious why you chose it? I ask this because I just finished doing all of my external woodwork with Teak Guard, and I'm already suspecting it's not the best choic...

I can't speak to the CD22, but from my measurements, BRP Evinrude Johnson Part Number # 177001: UNIVERSAL Duratank 6 Gallon Fuel Tank will fit the CD25, with very little room to spare. You'll have to measure to see if they'll fit your boat. The following is the correspondence with evinrudeparts@yaho...

Sole Replacement

Hi Russell; Just in case it is pertinent, the sole on my CD25 was also glued to the liner floor and screwed around the edges. The mastic used was suspiciously akin to "Liquid Nails". The glue was not 'spread' in a thin coat across the floor as was yours; It was applied in 'splotches', with...

Hi Eric;

I have some leftover from the 100' roll. How much do you need? Each porthole requires 34 1/2".
