Re: 1981 Typhoon Insurance
Hi Charles,
I own CDc #38 which was built in !977. I have been with Boat US/Geico for over 20 years and they just
renewed my insurance this month. My CD is 45 years old so I don't understand why they won't cover your TY, especially if they also cover your other boat.
Good luck,
Dana

Re: Cape Dory Staysail Rigging Question
Hi Dave, I had a staysail problem like yours on my CD30c. I wanted the clew to stay closer to the jib boom so when I slacked the outhaul, the sail maintained better shape in light air. So I added a slide to the boom and a shackle to the clew. This system is also helpful when flaking the sail for sto...

Re: reefing setup
Granted, there are many ways to reef your main but here is a video by Sail Magazine about Slab Reefing which is fairly common. I hope this helps. Remember, it's much easier to reef early.

My sincere thanks to Steve, Bruce and Ben for your input on staysail boom sheeting systems and hardware sizes. In a previous lifetime, I was a dinghy racer and rigged my mainsheet as you all advised. For some reason, I failed to recall that design but it work well then and I am sure will solve my cu...

Staysail Hardware size.
Hello all CD sailors, I sail a CD30c and I am considering downsizing the staysail boom hardware as part of a project to improve the single sheet system. The PO had a 1/2 inch double block on the boom and I am wondering if 3/8 inch blocks would be adequate. I often use the staysail in heavy wind but ...

Hi bill, I bought a new loose footed, full batten, 6 oz. dacron main from North Sails here in Portland Oregon in the early spring of 2009. I have used North sails and others for over forty years and I really like North's quality and service. Not only did the North rep come down to measure my boat bu...

Harness PFD
Gary, I just read a review of a Spin Lock harness PFD in Cruising World and it looks very nice. For the price, it should be superb. Ref: http://www.spinlock.co.uk/sitev2/defaul ... ection=100

Sceptre 41
David, I had the chance to spend four days and three nights on a Sceptre 41 sailing in the Puget Sound. The boat was responsive and easy to sail, although our conditions were limited to fairly smooth water and 8 to 10 knots of breeze. I will gladly fill you in on the boat's + and - IMHO at dlsewall@...
