although I showed the mast raising, the same a frame and same tackle was used to lower the mast as well. Bringing her down was easier than taking her up.

mast raising
With the help an 18 foot tall A frame made from 2x4's, I was able to raise the mast on a CD 27 with the help of a few friends. Sea Belle provided the plans for the project, but the link to those plans is gone. After I supplied the pix below, another fellow tried it with his boat in the water and was...

LED bulb brands
What brand LED bulbs did you use as replacements in your old Aqua Signal bow and stern lights?
I saw a bunch of them at the Annapolis boat show, but wasn't sure if one brand was better than another. Their packaging all seemed pretty amateurish and inspired little confidence.

Bob Dupont's passing
Sea Hunt Your news regarding Bob Dupont's passing is stunning and sad to me also. Ironically, it was my purchase a year and a half ago of a CD27 and this website that brought me back in touch after 30 years with Bob and his wife, Dale. While Bob was a copy editor for the Baltimore Sun, his wife and ...

Jamestown shipping charges
Jamestown has just instituted a frequent user's club for which they charge you $29 a year. I'm told the price is expected to be increased shortly. But among the benefits you receive are free shipping for all of your purchases while you are a member. So essentially, if you make two Jamestown purchase...

The A-Frame worked
The A-frame worked just like SeaBelle said it would in 2003. Fortunately, I also had two talented helpers who managed to jury rig the mast into position while I cranked the winch. Very exciting. Thanks to those who offered encouragement and suggestions. This board is truly remarkable. I've attached ...

Mast raising
The A Frame has, I hope, faced its most stressful test, and survived. I used it to raise the mast about 9 feet from the ground up to the deck. The boat is on the hard. The stress forced the A-frame to bow substantially and frighteningly. But much of the stress came because the mast was outside and t...

raising the cd27 mast
Unfortunately Bingham's sketchbook methodology requires that I have a pivoting tabernacle mast step, which I don't have. So Jack's 2003 A-frame proposal looks like a plan.
Thanks for the suggestions.

raising the mast on cd27
Thanks for your suggestions. I ordered the Bingham book from Amazon on Sunday, and they report it as on the way. I'll have at least 4 hands to do the raising. But I was worried that 18 feet of 2x4's would snap under the stress of a 32 foot 200+ pound mast/rigging. My contractor buddy who will be one...

Mast raising on CD27
Has anyone tried the A-frame approach to mast raising that Guest Jack CD 28 proposed in 2003? Here's the reference to the drawing and the instructions that he proposed back then. I've tried to email him at that 5 year old address without success. Posted: Mon 10/20/03 11:25 pm Post subject: Re: More ...

Don Casey's books
I just bought my cd27 and bought the Casey book to go with it from Amazon for under $40. It was alot cheaper from Amazon than from West Marine. When Peter Baumgartner restored his London (cd27) he cited the Casey book, This Old Boat , as a source and he also cited Nigel Calder's book Boatowner's Mec...
