Re: how to handle a CD 36 in reverse
I find it far easier to pull in bow first and then back out when you want to go sailing.

It is really very easy to do. In this shot notice the line going from strap to strap just above the deck level.

Re: Traveler for CD 30 MK ll
Garhaeuer made the new traveler for our 27. Here is a link:https://www.garhauermarine.com/product-category/travelers/travelers-1/ They made the suggestion that rather than trying to match the old hole spacing I should fill all of the old holes and space the new holes in between the old locations. How do you like moving to a smaller boat?
That interior teak should be oiled, not varnished unless the PO did the varnishing.

Re: Westerbeke W21A No Longer Frozen
Dan,
Where are you located? We have a 1986 21A that we pulled from our 27, it was running at the time, we just wanted to go electric. No one in the Midwest seem interested, so it is available cheap.

Re: UV Protection for Genoa
There was an article in Good Old Boat about a guy that painted the exposed part of his jib for UV protection, it seemed to work quite well

Re: CD 25D engine replacement advice
Do you have a sense for the speed you could operate at continuously with a reasonably sized (i.e. 2200 watt) generator running? She could run at 4-5 kts for as long as the gasoline hold out. This is a method recommended by the ElectricYacht people. Just plug the generator into your shore power inle...

Re: CD 25D engine replacement advice
The electric motor will push the boat up to hull speed with no problems, HOWEVER at that speed my cruising time is down to about 20 minutes. At 3.5kts we can cruise for about eight hours. If you need that range at those speeds you would require a huge battery bank.

Re: CD 25D engine replacement advice
On Slainte, our CD27, we went with Electric Yacht and haven't looked back. Electric is far less expensive than a new diesel, completely quiet and requires NO winterization. Range will depend on your chosen battery bank, but we only need a motor to get out of the harbor. With our 220 amp hour rating ...

What kind of "Yacht Club" would allow that to happen to any sailboat? ![Crying or Very sad ](./images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)
